Nero 9 being stupid

im trying to back up some CDs onto CDRs (for the car) and had no copy software on my PC (as nero that was on it has vanished!)

so downloaded Nero 9 last night from nero and installed it. all looks fine and that but it keeps failing at the same percentage of writing to disc, throwing the error in the attachment below.

Now i have tried 3 different albums, and it keeps failing at 82% writing. i now have 3 coasters.

im am running XP and have downloaded the framework thing from microsoft and the burn speed is set at the correct speed for the burner. My burner is not faulty as it will write without errors from media player 11 and itunes when creating audio cds

why is it doing this?

you sure it supposed to copy copy protected discs?

this disc aint copy protected as i coped it before on a different PC using Nero

are you copying cd-cd / writing image first then burning it / burning a compilation from the pc?

Try burning something a different way to how your doing it now. If it still fails at same place, re-download nero

your writer or reader drive may be faulty then. Try a different brand of cd too. might sound daft but sometimes writers dont like certain kinds of disks!

dont get this at all. i think it has something to do with .net framework services 3 i put on last night to install nero but i cannot find that to remove, tried restore point but that didnt work,

nero now removed

ive never heard of that .net framework thing. i cant see that being a problem but i suppose you never know! try re-installing nero and see if it makes a difference?

Hello , the netframework3 is for companys who want to run more then one system not for a home pc/laptop, uninstall nero via start,control panel,add or remove programmes, then do a restart,disc clean up and defrag, that'l put you back to a even place to start , do a smart restore - start.all programmes,accessories,system tools and pick a date a week or so before you downloaded the network software and let it do its thing . after your happy its done go to downloads.com/mininova/isohunt and download nero version 7 or 8 as its more stable than the new cracked v9, when uv done this do a restart,disc clean up,defrag and you should be able to copy like stall at a sunday market!! hope this helps

This is what i have done

installed nero 9
installed .net framework services 3 as Nero9 said it cant run without it
had problems
uninstalled nero 9
restored back to early december so no changes made to computer (as i cant find framework sericces to disable or uninstall)
and guess what!


another coaster.

also PC gone dog slow

as joker said, download nero 7/8 instead. Unless your proper into your copying, i wouldnt bother with nero 9 especially if it isnt working for you. If your still having problems, try puting a different writer into your pc (maybe borrow one off someone if you havnt got a spare) see if thats the problem.

im not sure that the burner is faulty as using XP to burn data discs is fine and so is using media player to burn audio discs from MP3s- itunes failed though.

tbh im just going to go to my old mans house and use his now as i have had enough of it.

Unless you want t burn your own films n stuff just use the software thats already on your system , it'l be something like 'recordnow' , 'sonic' , click start,all programmes,my cd writer and follow the on screen instructions,thankfully their almost idiot-proof and they'v helped me out lots of times when i changed ripping/burning software.
