It probably won't if you start looking into driving a car, if you don't, it possibly will.

It's a nice escape during exams/revision as you can come online and chat to people in seconds - that can be a bad thing of course.

Yeah I spose I better get a move on with the car thing...

You're only allowed to stay 5 months if you don't own a car  I am exempt though ;)

You will love driving.

Nooooo I love being DRIVEN I'm too ditzy, I'll forget what I'm doing and kill all my friends :(

It would be a very helpful skill to have though, then can stop relying on public transport and Jamie...plus I'm way too lazy for pedal power.

Me too, I have to use a bike out of nescesity, save £200 a year on bus fares and it's quicker (I leave 20 mins later than my friends who go on the bus from here!) and get home usually 10 minutes earlier at least. The roads are always dirty though so I always arrive looking scruffy and rough and the helmet hardly makes me look cool ;)

Maybe you shouldn't drive if you forget what you're doing....!

Your voluntarily wearing a helmet is commendable...how safety conscious of you! :D

Hmmm I suppose there are much stupider, more unobservant and more butterfly brained people out there already driving, so I may just give it a go one day.

You say that to take the **** but you haven't seen Manchester's roads have you! Blimey! It's similar to Paris sometimes and on three occasions I have had serious near misses to dying. One because some dickhead got the wrong lane and went straight on, into me! (Road layout is hard to explain) - Sammi did it when she took me out once but I know what she would have done if a biker was there, slowed down and realised her mistake. Instead this guy floored it and made it with inches to spare between me and the curb over the hashed lines. I didn't wear one for the first 6 weeks or so but I got too scared and decided I don't mind looking like an idiot if it helps me live. To be honest, If i carry on cycling for the next 3 years after this one, I will be extremely surprised if I don't have at least one accident.

You're mad, I was crazy about driving! I learnt when I was 11-15 off road though, funnily enough in a £50 Fiat Uno - Greg, I never thought I would have one properly.

I just find helmets irritating...should possibly encourage people to wear them at school, there are a couple of girls who crash frequently and head injuries would not help their already dubious state of mind.

I just didn't like driving my parents car (landy) it felt wrong. Liked my dads but it didn't inspire much confidence that my younger sister was so much better and my passengers tend to look afraid.

I would look afraid if my sister took me out, irrelevant of her passing her test because I know her too well to trust her when driving to be brutally honest!

They are irritating, but when I forgot it yesterday I noticed it keeps my head a bit warmer!

It's the helmet mate. When I'm at home I cycle all but every day, I've even cycled the length of the country and never once have I almost died cycling. And I never wear a helmet.

I tried cycling without the helmet but got too scared, I am about to post about what Manchester's roads are like.

I too have done a fair bit of cycling in the city and out of the city and never felt the need before Manchester to wear one.

But what if you fell off and were scalped  major bad hair day

We went through Manchester. Didn't so much as stop though so I don't know what it's like. Let me rephrase that we didn't stop because we didn't see a greggs!

I did crash into a car once though (in Bristol). He came off worse he opened his door on me, knocked the handlebars and the wheel went into his front wing - dented the car slightly but my wheel was fine. I cycled off giving the deserving (Fiat) motorist a shower of abuse.

Steve you're an eegit :p If you cycle, your hair gets ruined helmet or no helmet. However, carry a helmet and it's an obvious excuse, don't have a helmet and people don't think you wash/comb your hair.

Richard; it's only bad at certain times and on certain routes. There's a greggs near the station but then again, I have no idea where you were here and it's far too big for me to understand!
