The centre bearing has worn on the prop shaft of my Panda Cross (2016), The car has done 125,500 miles, so really no surprise! The mechanic I use says he cannot find one so suggested I look for a complete prop shaft, and I sourced this one on eBay:

FIAT PANDA PROPSHAFT 4x4 (169) 2004-ON 55222107 55193595 55197051 55264146

I checked if this is compatible with my car (there is a list of compatible cars and this is shown):

FiatPanda2016Petrol Hatch0.9 4x4AWD -- 312_,319_875cc 63KW 86HP 312 A2.000
FiatPanda2016Petrol Hatch0.9 4x4AWD -- 312_,319_875cc 66KW 90HP 312 A2.000;312 A7.000

The suppliers say that the part numbers are incompatible so it will not fit...but also he cannot find the fiat part number either...!
He has the registration number too...

I am flummoxed by this..

Can anyone help/throw some light on this please?

Thanks

Pete

Post 2012 cars are not the same as the 169. Advertising a 169 propshaft and saying it firs a 319 is daft. Centre bearings are clearly available for the post 2012 cars and I should try and find one again. I suppose at 125K I suppose a whole new shaft might not be madness but I would still get just the bearing. Use the search on here there have been several threads in the last few weeks. Also try shop 4 parts.

the cars are not the same but the propshaft is. They are fully interchangeable so far as I can establish. Although four part numbers have been used over the years, the item is the same size; for example

I am corrected. I thought I read somewhere they are not but I am corrected. It should make sourcing a secondhand one easier. It may expalin why these seem to fail so often on the newer cars where ther is a good deal more torque involved?

of course, its possible the the newer part numbers are where alterations have been made to handle that extra torque, and then remain backwards compatible? There is a thread somewhere where someone had a local (to Manchester I think) propshaft specialist replace just the bearing, which cost £150 inc labour... Edit: it was Nottingham! Is this the cause of the humming noise mentioned in an earlier thread then?

I am indeed hoping so.. but I cannot find either the right prop shaft or the central bearing (which is the bit that needs replacing and has an advisory against it)…

Just to follow up, I've now fitted the same prop as mentioned in the original post. It does indeed fit.
I'm getting a very small vibration over 60mph now though which will need some investigation.

Spike
While not good that it’s vibrating, good to have confirmation that the parts do indeed fit. Thank you.
