Hiya Teeg, I'll be honest with you I can't say I like your current car  but each to their own. You obviously have taste if you're looking for a coop so I'll forgive ya :p I had my first coupe at 21, how many no claims have ya got? I paid about £1200 fully comp back then. Go on www.fccuk.org/forum and have a look at the buying/selling section, there's a buyers guide there and information about the different engines/models/specs
Best advice I can give is have a look at as many coupe's as you can, you'll soon get a feel for what's a good one and which isn't. :)

In fact looking at your motor I think I was a bit harsh, the alloys are nice and it's very clean. It's the bumpers and lexarse lights that put me off !! :p
Tar, those pictures dont do it justice, it need be in the sun for the best effect.
Iv got 4 years no claims, im 21 and got no points but the cheapest quotes i seem to get for 1 is about £1200 3rd party! i no someone who is the same age as me a drives a supra and only pays £900 fully comp. besides that what i want to no is what i shud be looking out for when buying one? idealy i want a t plate or newer with 50000-60000 miles 20v turbo with leather interior and full electrics for £4000-4500, am i dreamin or is that about the right mark?

Whatever, I no like ! :p
I think you could maybe find a T plate coupe for £4500 but whether it'd have such low mileage is another matter. Things to look for? well as I said there's a cracking buyer's guide on the coupe forum but the main ones are:

*Cambelt change at least every 50K/six years
*Check oil isn't sludgey and black (decent servicing intervals)
*Ticking sound from startup (manifolds can crack) they normally seal up when warm.
*All keys present, (Silver key, blue key, and most importantly, Red key)
*Service history (specialists like powerfiat, motormech are better than fiat who don't know the coupe that well  )
*Wishbones don't last long on the coupe, check for any clunking when cornering
*check drivers seat bolster for signs of excessive wear
*Leave car ticking over for 5 mins and look for white smoke (turbo is knackered/oil seals may be gone)
*Any smoke evident in rearview under acceleration (turbo again or possibly oil seals)
*Ask the owner how often he/she tops up oil, should be about a litre every 1000miles although it varies. If they can't answer, walk away.
*turbo should come in no later than 3K and kick :)worship: )
*keep an eye on the dash when on a test drive and look for the injection light coming on (sign of engine probs)
*check front tyres for signs of uneven wear (suspension probs)

That's all I can think off from the top of my head, but you need to look here

http://www.fccuk.org/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=125&an=0&page=0#Post125

What are the best models to go for (money permitting) and what are the power figures?

Im finding it that difficult to get my car looking right i may well trade in.

Ross is 21 drives 20v turbo, he is with green light, with all mods declared( zorst, kit , wheels, eniginey stuff :p ) he pays £1100

just to give ya a rough idea

As in Ross pays peanuts, I pay £900 for my coupe fully comp (280BHP) and I am 24 with 6 year's no claims  If ross has full no claims presuming he has been driving since 17, he can only have a max of 4 years, and his coupe is even more powerful than mine (300BHP  ) so basically Ross living in a forest = cheap insurance :D
P.S that's with greenlight also ;)

:yeahthat:

If I tried insuring that the police would come to my house trying to arrest me for killing too many insurance call center people after I made them all die from laughter

I'm 22 and I'm paying £1200 on a 1992 1.6 Tipo (n) amd I think the compression is going so I'm paying that much for what performs like a 1.2

At least it performs like a 06 plate 16v 1.2 :(

its not a forrest its a hill!!

thats what happens when u rite off your corsa, ur rover, mates rover, speeding offence........... il not continue or i might have to sleep on the sofa :p :p :p
