Hi all, new here.

Right, my little brother had a slight bump a few days ago which resulted in me having to get the front bumper and bonnet repaired. All done, and the body is fine.

I got the car back from the garage yesterday and noticed that the front and back wipers start working when i either flash, indicate, turn the lights on or turn the fan on number "1". Also, the temperature gauge keeps hovering all the time, either goes all the way down and stays there for a few seconds or goes right to the top with the red light coming on, parked up and checked the car and it wasnt heating up, no smoke and no water being lost.

The bodyworker said that it wasnt his fault but it clearly was. He said maybe when he pulled the chassis back forward, some wires may have touched eachother . He also said that it would be a quick 5 min job for an electrician and he isnt here at the moment.

The fact that these problems were NOT there when my bro had the little bump. Infact, there were NO other problems when he had a bump other than the body.

ANY HELP AS TO WHATS WRONG? COULD BE A WIRE OR SOMETHING FOR WHICH I MAY HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE ELECTRICIAN AND MAY HAVE TO PAY HIM FOR SOMETHING I COULD DO MYSELF MAYBE?

Any help would be appreciated ASAP.

Thanks in advance guys.

Hesam

EDIT: ITS A 05 PLATE FIAT PUNTO 16V ACTIVE SPORT 3 DOOR

Sounds like you have a floating earth, probably left a grounding point disconnected somewhere, they should fix it if they broke it...

Any idea where abouts it is? Yeah they should but he kept saying I didn't do it :s

Look for a earth strap unbolted or unclipped where the mechanic has been working .nothing serious just searching for a alternative earth that is why its working with headlights etc...should be a easy fix for a good mechanic.. take it back to where you had the work done....Also check to see if a new bulb has been fitted ? single contact fitted to a double contact can give you this problem as well.

Hey mate. Is the strap covered in insulted wires n what not? like plastic type? Does it need to be touching metal?? The guy said come on Thursday but I heared its not a big problem...

Depends what the guy had to take off really.

But a bit of Sherlock Molmes here... the disconnected earth will be somewhere you cant easily see from under the bonnet, thats why he missed it, so try crawling underneath with a torch & see what you can find hanging loose.
