they only had the one in the glass cupboard when i called there and suggested i have one at a £100 which was a Garmin one, they wouldn`t let me have the LG one, so i`ve come away thinkin about were to go, ie ASDA, CURRYS, etc tomorrow, i`m just lookin for around 80-90 quid to spend and i`m gonna have a look on ebay and see what i can find on there, but any suggestions are welcome to help me find a decent satnav

As you say, if you got a Nokia Symbian based phone you could put TomTom on that and keep the number of devices down :)

It is widely accepted that TomTom offer the best Sat Nav package in terms of accuracy, completeness, ease of use and features. However, some of it's competitors are cheaper and therefore more attractive if that's a condition of your purchase.

A really good site to look at is Pocket GPS World. They are an independent UK based site who review all Sat Nav products and related items such as GPS receivers. They're unbiased and very helpful. The forums are very good and if you subscribe (£19 a year) you will be eligible for their Speed Camera Database software that will work with your Sat Nav once you get it and keep you up to date with all Speed Camera locations not only in the UK but around the world too.

I've used a few Sat Nav devices over the years (Navman, Garmin, Nav4All, Nokia Maps, aMaze) and TomTom still just can't be beat IMHO. It has never failed me or sent me into a warzone by mistake ;) It's facilities are bang on and make for a much more pleasant journey.

A fellow BOO member recently contacted me about a new player in the market, called Sygic which I hadn't heard of before, and I'm still trying to get hold of an evaluation copy, but they might be worth a butchers.

Hope that helps.

well i went to the Snipe retail park in AShton and got the LG N10 satnav with 10% knocked off as the intructions and software cd were missing (only because my girlfriend asked :) , i`d forgotten to ask tbh) not bad to be honest from Halfords either, didn`t want to give me the 10% off tho as they looked unhappy when we asked, and it was the last one, good bargin tho :) :)

amaze will work on your d900, in the browser type in wap.amaze.com, free to peeps with a browsing add on, tuppence if not
@roberto yhm

Amaze is a clunky, Java based app that requires you to download mapping data live to your phone as you need it, therefore potentially incurring big data charges. They even have a page on their website with hints and tips on how to avoid these big data charges...

http://www.amazegps.com/index.php?page=economy&language=uk

So unless you have an unlimited data plan, Amaze is deceptively expensive.

There is another free Nav system called Nav4All which is marginally better...

http://www.nav4all.com/site2/www.nav4all.com/enguk/index.php

And of course, if you have a Nokia Symbian phone, there is Nokia Maps.

But don't be fooled by the "free" tags, the app is free, but acquiring the all important maps might not be.
