I am considering buying another car, I want something that I can throw about and use as a track car (Because I like the alfa too much to crash it lol).

I was looking at a Sei sporting but I dont think they would be any use on a track? I am just looking for something that aint gonna cost me the world to insure (as it wont get used that often) and would be easy enough to strip and work with the engine for when things go wrong.

Anyone got any suggestions?

does it HAVE to be a fiat, or are you open to other marques too?

for
im gonna say corsa, at there are so many of them going about, they are relitavly cheap, parts are readily available and chances are, the big engines are in there already

against
common as dog shite, and corsa owners tend to be bellends that think they can take on the world in their pocket rockets,

BUT they are wee rockets, plenty quick in a straight line and round corners

Doesnet have to be a fiat of course :) I already have 1 itailan motor :) lol

I though about a corsa too but they will be more to insure? since its all knobs that own them?

any car that has been modded quite heavily will be pricey on insurance, and if you check every day, insurance changes on a daily basis,

check scot ads, ebay etc for a good base to start from, look for something that has most of the big work done, engine, suspension etc, even if its something that needs a little tlc.

Will do :D Still need to book the alfa in for its cambelt service :(

But after that I dont think I will have anything else to shell out for in a while.

Is there a way of only insuring a car when you need it? Like for specific track days or what ever? since I have my NCB on my existing car I dont think I can use it on another policy? so would be starting from nothing again and at 19 that isnt such a good thing.

Since I wont be using it that ofren I might just get my old man to put it in his name and only make it third party? But since its gonna be used for racing I dont know how happy he would be about risking his own NCB :p unless I find one of these "each driver earns their own ncb" places.

What about things like short term insurance? Not sure you'll get at your age, but iirc some companies will offer you a week long policy.

Alternatively, it might work out cheaper in the long term to get a trailer and tow it around. But again, your age may be a barrier there with towing weights?

if you are only going for 'event insurance' then you will need to find somewhere to keep the car off the road while its not insured, you could go for limited milage insurance, or even multicar insurance????

Well I cant get onto insurance sites in work for some reason so I will have a look at multicar with aviva (who I am with now) when I get back home in the morning.

I wouldnt want to trailer it around using the alfa :p I love the car (so far)

I will have a look at limited milage insurance :D but dunno what to limit it to cause I dunno how much I will be using it :(

As for a grage there is a bank of council garages like 50ft from my house so I could enquire about getting one there, its like £350 a year or something I think it works out at. :D

the alfa would be the perfect towing car, turbo diesel (loadsa torque) but you would need to pass a towing test,

the lockup would be the best option tho.......BUT whats gonna happen if you are miles away with the track car and it breaks down?? if you had a trailer you could tow it home ;)

Is it just a myth that towing ruins the engine or is it fact? I cant afford to replace an engine and get a track car on the go :p lol

Ill look into the insurance in the morning and maybe even give the coucil a phone to find out about the lock up, they are tiny though so doubt a trailer would fit in it. My Neighbour takes about 5 minutes to get his mondaeo (spelt like that? :S) into it without scratch the sides lol

just a myth bud, it can put more pressure on the clutch if you ride the clutch a lot, but its perfectly safe

i have a 1.6 clio forsale if u want it. it would b gr8 on the track :)

You got any pics of it?
Got a price in mind?
and the reg plate so I can see if they will rape me for insruance :( I am only £800 FC for the alfa so I dont wanna pay more than that for a car I will use maybe once a month lol
