I myself own a punto mk1, never drove an Uno and i don't see much of them anymore.

My project is not terminated yest,some upgrades are coming.

here in Brazil we have a 1.500/1600cc ,and in some another countries of South America too.

Is a very nice engine, have a great rev qualities,i make some mod´s on my ,and now have around 125 cvs stimated.

I've never heard of 1.6 uno's before,hope it's 16v100bhp FIRE engine,i've been thinking of fitting a 1.2 8v fire engine in my uno to produce some torque -

the 1.6 engine is created by Aurelio Lampredi,a FIAT engineer,in Italia.

Basically, is similar to the 1.3 engine of european Uno Turbo i.e. , but have more upgrades added,and off course, naturally aspirated.

The engine from Palio 1.6 is similar too, but have versions with 16v. I think the Punto engine is similar too.

Actually,the Uno still in production here, but using the name Mille Fire,with a Fire engines with 1.000 and 1.300 cc (the Fiorino Van).

In Brazil have some different engines in the Uno:

1050cc Fiasa (launch on Fiat 147)
1300cc Fiasa
1500cc Fiasa

All Fiasa types are fabricated in Brazil,and created by Lampredi too.

1500cc Sevel (launch on 1.5R in 1987)
1600cc Sevel
1400cc Turbo (launch on Uno Turbo i.e. in 1994)

The 1500 and 1600 engines are imported from Argentina,and the 1.4 Turbo from Italia.


1000cc Fire (launch on Mille in 2000)
1300cc Fire (in Fiorino Vans)

The last Fire engines actually produced have 75cvs and have flexible fuel, alcoohol/gasoline in any proportion.

All those engines were available in UK Fiats, but we never got a 1.5/ 1.6 engined Uno The 1.6 engine was used in the Tipo and also the Punto 1.6 Sporting and I think maybe the late model Regattas.

Some people did swap in a 1.5 engine from a Strada/ X1-9/ Lancia Delta to make quite a hot little Uno. I'd be tempted to do this myself except with only 40K on my engine it would be a shame to swap such a low mileage engine. I wonder why Fiat never offered a bigger NA engined Uno in the UK

I ask the same thing, as well as why was the highest spec on the 45 & 60 "S" in the UK when you could get fully loaded 45 & 60 "SX`s" in Europe!

It's possably the same Engine i've just ripped to bit's?, looks like an Uno engine but its got 86.4mm pistons with smiley faces and very interesting Crown Height's
