My tiny toy!

Introduction

Bought a rallye whilst the coop's off the road. It feels rather slow in a straight line but it is funny ringing the crap outta the engine (7,400RPM redline!) and it would MINCE the coupe through the corners, it's simply a go-kart. Had an "incident" on the way home in it and ended up the wrong way round a roundabout :D hello lift-off oversteer. Plans are a group "N" exhaust sytem and a raceland manifold, and perhaps a bilstein suspension kit.

I just know Dave will love it :D :p
The best standard mod on the S1 is the GpN Cam - basically it is ground to near perfection of the recommended settings. I built one back in the day for the Pug 106 Rally Championship. Definitely want to fit a decent filter (seemed fine in the standard box). We all had to use Magnex exhausts so I can't comment on that except the two make it better, but the change in the acceleration and the crispness of the engine with the cam was incredible, it was the last allowable performance mod I did on the car and it really did make a difference.

Dunno if its still about (L34 HFV) I last saw it being run in the RAC rally - it finished too - well done Les!

Also if you really want to keep the thing reliable and you want to use hit some rough etc then a GpA rear gear box mount is worth it - basically same shape as the rubber donut but a single aluminium billet, meant you never cracked the gearbox!

Oh and if you want speed and more noise then remove the internal sound mat from under the carpet - have to remove most of the interior to do it but it weighs quite a few kilos.

Most people ran the XSI alloy painted white on competition sam J values but stronger than the steelie

I made this into a 16V and it flew! It was late 6's to 60, which felt hilarious in a tin can. It also just felt a bit too much like a death trap, so I sold it in May 2010. The guy broke it for parts, and it's now sadly gone to the great road in the sky. What a sad end. Why do all my ex cars get broken/crashed? :p
