Panda (Classic) My Sisley, Panda 4x4 - division north

Introduction

As mentioned before, I'm starting new thread for my recent purchease.
Bought it from forum user, deposit was place without seeing the car first, went all the way down south with rest of the cash and A-frame in boot.

First summary of the car is ( 1 is very poor, 10 is perfect):

  • Originality - 6,
  • Bodywork - 7,
  • Engine - 6,
  • Gearbox - 5,
  • Interior - 5,
  • Structural rust - 8,
  • Visible rust - 8,
  • Previous owners maintain - 7
Plan for the car is to keep it road worthy and in good mechanical nick, join Panda 4x4 UK club and have some play with other Northern forum members.

As it is now, I'm not willing to make any statement what needs to be done as I had only spend about 2h last week by checking and looking at the car in more details way.

That is my bigger worry for now - bloody milky coolant and a bit of mayo under the oil cap.

How can I confirm my head gasket theory not having coolant presure test kit???
@CLS - your not the only one - aparently it is bloody hard to buy cheepo 4x4 without blown thru head gasket.

The rest of the engine bay seems to be fine,

Did somebody in here mentioned a black silicone gunk as a fast repair?

they are retreaded tyres, they may be older than coal:D .

Being serious now ,they look good ! similar but less agressive than "pneus ovada" from Italy my friend has on his 4x4

I think I do need to shot blast and coat the Weller rims before fitting the Fedima's on. After scratching few layers of weird cotings it look like the made date is 05 '89.

Scarborough is such a ****e hole, pricy blasters, pricy dippers!

Finally, my magic camber M12 hub bolts are ready.
Two options available 2 and 3 mm.
Required if opening the top hub bolt hole is not enough to get the camber right.

Number of pairs and nuts available.

The general rule of thumb is roughly 1mm widening per 20mm of height, so 60mm lift would require 3mm drilling out :)

I'll see when i'll get to that point.

I've got 10mm top spacers only, the rest of lift is the coil spring and longer shock with relocated boils spring base plate.

At the rear i've got just the shackels, shocks and secondary coil spriings, no leaf to axle spacers.

There seems to be hundreds of different configurations.

Mirko, could you translate attached sketch, please?

Engine/gearbox stand will be collected this afternoon.

This will help a bit as the workload is massive.

Just brief list of thing to do:

1. Engine swap.
2. Gearbox swap.
3. Fit lift kit ( front and rear suspension/axle full rebuild)
4. Mod & fit Roof rack.
5. Fabricate front seat frames for Mx-5 seats.
6. Re-trim in Sisley fabric Mx-5 front seats .
7. Get the Weller rims blasted and coated, fit Fedima tyres on ( in progress)
8. Fabricate rock sliders and sills protectors.
9. Fabricate full size petrol tank guard/protector.
10. Mod Sump guard and extend it to protect gear selectors.
11. Fabricate Rear diff guard.
12. More lights.
13. Winch + frame.

14. any other which i don't know about - yet!

Easy Peasy!!!

Cheers Andy, but in my opinion the mk1/eunos one piece back and head rest does beat any front seats. Nice looking and really slim. Just doing some spare space in unit work will start tommorow.

Does anyone know place/on-line which can supply me with 500ml of paint ?

Paint code 286 Avorio(avario) to get my wellers rims sorted?

Just been on phone with Halfords - waste of time as due to some legislation they can only do the 400ml aerosols oi solid colours, tin of metalic or fluorescent paint with no problems - world is going crazy.

If not, i'm going for chlorinated rubber paint (plastidip type budget equivalent) in white.

Is there not a paint supplier or bodyshop local to you that could mix it up? I could get it mixed it for you if you wanted and then posted, would just have to make sure the tin is well sealed!
