YER WOW .. Posted links here above for anyone who wants to check them out or reply comments about the ... Electric Fiat Qubo

Perhaps I should think about buying one............I've Solar Panels on our rear roof, so technically could charge it up F.O.C., that would make it 'Cheep' to run. I suspect the same problem applies though, the batteries only have a life of 2-3 years, then you pay serious cash to replace them..............thought about it, I'll stick to my MJD for now.

Take care, Qube O.

wonder if the heaters are any warmer? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Morning,

I remember years ago when I was a strapping young lad, I used to run Land Rovers...........series 1s, 2s 2As & 3s, a mix of petrol and diesel, they all had the same problem as our Qubos, they were s l o w to warm up the engine block, hence water, hence heaters. I, as did a lot of Land Rover owners fitted a nice 'tailored' muff to the front grill, this muff had press stud flaps you could open for warmer weather, (allowed air to pass through), or you could leave closed up for cold weather, (stopped cold air passing through radiator/engine) worked a treat, engines heated up in half the time, so you soon had a good blast from the heater. Shame no one out there makes that kind of thing anymore, it could solve a few cold feet.

Take care, Qube O..:):)

Ye same here i had a few landrovers early 90s had one on rad yes u reminded me on them .. has far has electric fiat qubos batterys do cost but put links and info up has many here would not know there are eletric fiat qubos which have been made but i think give it another 10 years i think battery will be the eco way to go when battery get smaller lighter and give very long range and power .. the car body also may become fully solar has well and charge brakes full low power led lights ect .. some of this tech is still in early day but in years to come electric may be so or most eco way

My Qubo now done just over 2,000 miles .. engine is now some much more loser .. these Qubos well modile i have this engine are very tight when new and seem to have less power now with 2,000 miles on the clock it seems to have so much more power and quicker .. i would not call it slow when foot is put to the floor .. just need to have set in man and not let it climb right up the rev range .. changing gear at right revs range mine i would call not such a slow coach has qubos are put across has .. my lastest review on my qubo at 2,000 miles 3 months old at date today of this comment

Morning daveukqubo,

If you think your car has improved now, over just a couple of thousand miles, just wait until its done 12000 odd, then it really goes. Yes I agree, plenty of power, it all depends how you drive them. Mine is as quick in most situations as my previous 150 HP car, only exception being acceleration from a start, but once its in 2nd gear and up, it moves just fine............

Re the Electric Qubo, I reckon your spot on, give it another 5-10 years and it will possibly be the way to go.............mine should last that long, so perhaps when I change !!!!!!!

Take care, Qube O.

I think electric car makers are expecting a battery pack to last for c. 10 years dependent on where you live (and how you drive I imagine). This tells you a bit more.
Also the companies actually rent you the battery pack so you pay a set fee per month which goes towards replacement after the 10 years. Since your only expense is the charging and occasional service (much reduced costs over an ICE powered car as there are way fewer moving parts) then the monthly is like the fuel bills you used to have putting petrol/diesel into it.

On the heater issue I'd certainly be looking at the temp stamped on the standard stat and looking at getting a better rated one..

Is there such a thing as a place designed into the Fiat block for a heater unit that you have on a timer to warm up before you leave in a morning? This unit is for the Toyota RAV4 block (the 4.2 model) and fits in a special slot with a clip. Kenlowe used to do one that you exchanged for your bottom hose and it was an immersion heater in the water. I'm sure if they are still around you could buy one or there may be other manufacturers doing something similar That would save you fuel by setting off with a warmer engine, perhaps save wear and tear too as the oil viscosity will be better for early circulation.

Just a couple of thoughts..

Paul
