Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto 1.4 Sporting

Introduction

Here is my recently purchased car - it's in amazing condition and was a steal.

2004 Sporting 1.4 with 70k on the clock, full service history and no advisories on last 4 MOTs....

Interior is spotless just the left hand vent the plastic bits that are on a slant inside the outer bit are broken so will source a new vent and change it.

Hope you all like...

Virtually guarantee anything with 50k on it will be clocked.
Costs 10 quid for the gear and 30 seconds to do.

The 1.4 petrol and the 1.9 multijet HGT are definitely the models to go for, the problem with the diesel HGTs is heavier and more electronics to go wrong.

I'm not a fan of the wheels but the car as a whole is very nice, best colour as well ;)

Yes, depending how it has been done. mes can check if it is only the dash / instrument node that has been altered. (that is the cheap way lol)

The better tools also reset the count in the engine ecu to whatever you want, and the rewrite number, virtually and practically impossible to tell
On many later fiats, there is another backup in the ABS ecu for recorded mileage, my brides punto doesnt have abs so cannot say if it applies to puntos / abs. When the abs backup is present the efi ecu backup is usually not. Some clockers miss this one.
It is so easy to do it is crazy.

Why would these models be the 'ones to go for' as you put it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the other models. I would prefer the 1.2 8v over either of your dubious 'choices'
The diesel is definitely a gritter and should be cubed. (y)

Thanks for all the comments.....

Drives fine and all the mileage is correct as per the previous MOTs and with full service history and timing belt being done 3k ago then should be sweet. The place that sold it put it's through it's MOT when I bought and all god so let's hope it stays that way :)

Was just a little run around for me so all good so far....

Just look at the previous MOTS... Common sense
No, not common sense at all young man.
Many cars are clocked prior to every mot.
Many cars are clocked prior to the first mot.
You, dear boy, would not have a clue. That is how it works. (y)
No records prior to 2008, even then they are taken with a pinch of salt.
you have a lot to learn.:D

I wouldn't touch a car if it didn't have service history and previous MOTS

What happened to the one that had and still has the knackered engine then ?
:ROFLMAO:

and would your 'dubious rebuild' be classed as 'service history' for the next owner ?
Yikes, caveat emptor.

I careful lady owner (Hertz!), never raced or rallied. No tyre kickers.

I rest my case.

I hope you are right, it looks great.

Full service history includes ALL receipts. If you dont have the receipts and invoices, dont believe it. You can buy service 'history' from ebay.

It is amazing how many timing belts were 'changed' 3000 miles prior to purchase.. If you have a genuine receipt for parts and labour, it is fairly reasonable to presume it has been. Otherwise, it means nothing.
Stamps in a book mean nothing.
Mileage on the clock means nothing.
stickers on the cam cover or windscreen or door post saying something was done - (oldest trick in the book) means jack.

The only history is genuine receipts and detailed invoices for everything.
Even then, it is only a guide.
MOT is dubious at best.
Buy on condition and your own test, NEVER on mileage or year.

The point, young man, is that the mots mean nothing in reality, neither does your dubious service history.
Too many back street bodgers, ex kwikfit animals and ebay instant history. Even you could forge a history, as said, a child could do it, its only a 6 quid rubber stamp. You wouldnt even have to write anything
As for mileage clocking, again, I really think even you could do it.(y)
It would probably need re-doing properly afterwards though :D
Get the top end overhauled on your engine dude.

i always thought that it is strange when people are selling cars and type it just had oil+ filters+ timing belt+water pump+ front brakes changed like few 1000 miles ago...

if you know the right people even mot certificate and receipts can be falsified, but that is a considered a crime for all parties involved and i know a few cases where people have been caught in falsifying receipts for the work that has never been done, they usually catch them all sooner or later
