come on people put ur heads together, posted b4 but stil no gud answers. my cars is drinking like a b*t*h n i need to improve. im always startin the MPG but dnt think people gettin idea so hopefully this helps. in £38 ive done 238miles n reserve light on.........sum1 do the maths. i dnt drive like a racer but wishing i do with tht rate.

one mechanic said tht a service wont do tht much of a major job n maybe its the Single Point Injector tht its messing up the mixture, any ideas if tht a problem????

Again only mods to car are 16" alloys n a DTM front splitter.

I get that kind of economy sometimes. gunna reset my ecu tomorrow and see if that helps. i think mine's probably overfuelling cause there's a lot of black crap in the end of the exhaust... so we shall see.

But yeah... from my 1.1 i've done close to 140miles on just over 1/2 a tank (n)

what price per litre as at 85p it is about 23mpg and at 90p its 29mpg also is this around town as fuel consumption around town is abit less than motorway.

well it helps if you tell us what you have done if anything?
must admit i dont look at mpg on mine but should.got a long drive this week so i'll make some notes.

i would always say in this situation to do the plugs, air filter and an oil change at least.that way you can rule those out.
lamda problems can cause overfuelling but so can things like a dragging brake.

so have you done anything?

Maybe the bigger wheels are causing the odometer (or whatever it's called) to give a false reading?

isnt the 1.4 brava the one with the really crap engine that everyone knows to avoid in favour of the 1.2 16v instead?

this happens to soo many ppl, happend to me, I was getting 23mpg out on a really good drive like a granny with me and no one else and no kit in car. and wait for it.......18mpg:eek: around the city.

tried a few things inc reseting ecu (wanted to swap it out for another one but 75's are rare as buggery round here), and swapped out map/manifold thing sensor thing for the original working 60model one, and still no difference.

So I though bugger it, if its going to drink petrol like a 2.0integralle turbo, funk it I'll try and drive it like one, drove it hard from sunderland to haiwk with a mate and two bikes, and one the way back had to fill it again (didn't even bother to figure out how crippling the fuel bill was) and drove back normally, figured it out and it was back to 48mpg!!! yeay!!

Just drive it like a chav and rev right to limiter (but don't hit it for funks sake, not if you value your timing belt) in 1st-4th and that seemed to have done it, like the ecu needed a full rev range run when at full op temp to sort of remap itself.

Weird but it happens with quite a few peoples
