what you recon guys
i went and got a 8 by 4 sheet of steel/tin tonight and started to plnel abit behind the seats as seen on pic (y).

looks like theres some heavy old lumps of metal in there, could a lighter tubilar frame not been made??

Anyway, atleast your doing it(y)(y) dont stop on this project and finish it off.

Personally i would have gone for a red top engine. Why has noone thrown a red top at a cento??? i was going to do it in my project but didnt want to ruin a good shell

its not that heavy as its thin wall box i did not want to build it out of tube as i want to patch it into the car ive used a 16v as i can just extend the loom and when its all running put a 1.4 in it a redtop is only 150 bhp and are a big engine. if i was going to use any other engine id use a 1.6 vtec :)

im going to build a nice box over the top with a door in it out of inch box so i can sound proof it then when you open boot you wont be able to see engine.(y) what you think put a big radiator under bonnet with petrol tank then i can run all pipes under the car were the exhaust was

done abit more today made all the bottom frame work to mount the arms and anti roll bar also mounted the engine but need to make a new mount for the back of the gear box

once all the suspention is mounted and drive shafts are in i can start paneling it inside need some front arms struts and anti roll bar off another sei of chinq now

Hi

If you are going to have the radiator at the front I'd mount it aft of a large rectangular ram pipe to protect it from front end bumps and provide a ram effect, I'd use a larger rad as well and fit two fans, try and find a Mazda Mx5 to look at with the bonnet open, showroom people will normally demo the engine room...

hi there i need some help i have used a front subframe out of a bravo 80 so i could use the rear engine mount and all the running gear the onli problem is the bravo drive shafts will not fit the sei gear box you think im best cutting and joining the shafts?

been watching this and it looks like an amazing project :D
whats the legals with this is it just a change your log book to the 2 seats and a different engine or do you have to notify them that its custom and rwd?
id love to try something like this but i think ill wait til iv looked into it abit more and finished my second year and done a welding course as iv just finished level one motor vehicle and it was such easy stuff and really basic jobs with a little more theory,
do you not fear the car will be a little to much trouble to drive having such a weight reducion over the front wheels what kind of weight would a full petrol tank be and id definatly be slighty cautious driving it with a empty tank? i imagine it would have alot of understeer, and last thing what kind of thing are you gunna do for bracing in the front to replace the engines rigidity, ill read through the topic again and if any of this has been mentioned already ill alter this accourdingly :D
thanks adam

If you do any mods to the monocoque chassis, ie. move suspesion mount points, or more extreme like this, you should get a full SVA as it's not type certified, then get specialist insurance, ie. custom, or track ar insurance.

A modified insurere will probably offer to insure, but if it comes to a crash, they will go running.

Not to put people off though, and SVA on a 90% type approved car shouldn't be too hard (y)
