Howdy all,

Where to begin, well i have a little transformers shoe known as the
2001 FIAT SEICENTO 1.1 MICHAEL SCHUMACHER SPORTING

Yea right my ass,,,,

I got the car brand new first car ran like a dream for a few years, loved the little thing i did, but over the last year n half i have had problems.Since getting the car the revs always seems sluggish, had so called revs topped up but i dont think the garage did their job, then it started to cut out when standing in traffic, so i had to keep the revs going, but the problem seemed to get worse, i am in no postion to spend loads as i am on my arse with money at min, then the car flat out said no go jonesy lmao.

So my exs dad took the car and agreed to help me out as i need my car for work n my little one, so he did a full service replaced air filter, sparks etc, no improvement, had a full new exhaust, Ht leads, blah blah, then went on to go for a diagnostic, the only problem it came up with was the coil, so that was replaced, went to start the thing n would not start, hahahahaha.

Then i popped down to my ex,s dads and he said try n sell the thing, u can borrow my jeep, a vitara jeep cost me a bomb in fuel, but was thankful for the help, then he sat in the car n said look it does not start now but when he turned the key, a message on the screen read fpc fail eh? so i went home did some reseach and it was the fire prevention cut off so i got back in contact with the ex's Dad and told him about it, so we though we cracked it got a new batt, he said running like a dream, i was over the moon got my little shoe back yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hahaha been driving it for two weeks cut out twice in first week but started straight back up so ignored it, went to work one morning, noticed steam coming of the bonnet, ignored it as i have no clue lmao, then drove back thursday night from work, popped in the house went to get back in the car to go to asda and would not start greatttttttttttttttttt.

So i lifted the bonnet to cool it down,, walked to the shop, took my 15 mins came back and it started first time does anyone have any clues was told it might be the heat sensor, and just to let u know i do not Maf or map sensor as i have been into fiat cause we thought it was that at one point and he said this model dont have one lmao please help a woman in need, before i set light to the thing xxxxxxxxxxx:eek::slayer:

If its steaming its overheating and that could mean a simple thing like the thermostat or a big thing like the head gasket ..8v fire engines[which yours has] are prone to head gasket failure ..My advise would be either get a sniff test done or a compression test done either one will show if the head gasket is shot..

Welcome to the forum ..(y) pop down to the chinq/sei section for all your usefull info from the people down there (y)

I've only noticed the steam once tbh and there wasn't all that much of it. Before I had all these parts replaced, the car would start straight back up but as the problrm went on it took longer and longer to restart, now I'm back atthe point where it's startng straight back up but I'm expecting it to get worse. It's weird becuase when it cuts out there's no warning at all... it's all very strange. And thanks for the reply!

Mods have transferred this thread to sei /chinq section now for you so you should get a lot more replies now so just hang on in there and wait (y)

Re: My on going problems with my Fiat

Now I'm confused. My boyfriend works for a car rental company and they ordered the sensor for me as that was the initial diagnosis from a contact he has there. The sensor arrived and two fitters at his garage spent two hours trying to locate where it should go. When they eventually admitted defeat, we phoned the dealer and asked their parts department where it should be fitted to be told by them that they'd made a mistaken in supplying it as this model doesn't have a sensor!?

It's gone again earlier today - ran fine for an hour, parked up to do some shopping and half an hour later came back to a car the turned over but wouldn't start for a good ten minutes. I'm starting to think there may be two separate problems here... :(

First, check it's the right MAP sensor. The one you want has 4 pins. They can find it just to the right and slightly behind the throttle body. It's held in by two torx screws and is the only sensor on the black plastic inlet manifold itself.

The earlier cars have a remote 3 pin sensor.

Another possible cause could be the fuel pump relay (you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime) or the crank sensor (or the wiring to it).

Good luck (but find a better garage).

Well i ordered a new maf or map sensor, waited for the special part to arrive, then like i said had my Boyfriends mates who are mechanics tried to fit it, but could not find it, so we went to a fiat dealership who looked under the bonnet to tell us were it is, and the fiat man said your model does not have one ??????????? thats from a fiat person !!!!!!!!

Is there any pics around then i know what i am looking for ?

Just want my car fixed been nearly two years now and i dont really want to scrap or sell it,

And with the stress of getting my problem fixed i rushed my name on here and spelled it incorrect lmao, plant pot, anyway or editing my name ?

Sorry, forgot to mention though, this doesn't sound like a map problem anyway. Overheating etc will be a cooling loop problem (rad, thermo, coolant, pump etc), a failed fan (sensor should be fine as its just one to the ecu and would cause a warning light if failed, or at least should), or a headgasket failure.

a bit of reading at those 3 things should give you a better idea :)

I could be here all day chasing these problems arund wish i had the first idea about my car its so frustrating ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, ill try the thermostat first i think

lmao yea u could say so HAAHAHAH,

Ill try n buy all the bleeding bits and replace them all thermo, gasket ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i give up !!! why bother having a ecu unit if it cant pick up problems ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Trying to look at this logically, you've either got an overheating problem and a rough running/difficult starting problem, or a problem that's causing both.

I'd find a decent backstreet garage in Wigan and tell them to do a compression test (or a coolant pressurisation test, if they have the kit) on the engine. Don't tell them it's been overheating. A compression test might cost you £20. It would confirm (or eliminate) a lot of suspicions.
