Well I thought 'what the hell' and for the (quite cheap I thought) total of £32 I went and bought these pipes and the middle connector

Now I need to detail other bits of the engine. I'm thinking of painting the top of the engine and possibly the ECU box with silver engine paint I used on my calipers, as I think it won't be too OTT in silver. I just can't get it any cleaner with elbow grease!

Looks very nice that Ben, looks very similar to the ones Tom makes.

Where did you buy the pipes from as i'm sure many will ask.

Joske

My local 'Motorworld' shop. The straight bit was £10.99, the kink was £16.99 and the join was £5. I thought that was pretty cheap. Obviously when you compare it to Toms, his looks much nicer with it welded joins and stuff, but for the budget this looks pretty cool I recon!

Thats what I thought! (though exactly what it's made from I don't know! I'll let you know if it starts rusting!)

The join to the engine was the only problem bit, cos I can't find a proper join big enough, with a bit of a kink, so I had to cut up the OE tube (actually the filter end of it) so I'd have a join at the right angle. It was a tight squeeze though, and I thought at one point I was gonna be left with a butchered Fiat pipe, and no car to go buy another! lol

impressed! is it from sudbury mate? once i have my new hgt (mk1 again due to insurance so you dont need to worry about the dials) on the road i will driveover your way and we will see if we can make these fit my hgt with a bmc cda! :)

if i was you i would be very happy with what you have there!

it looks sweet Ben :)

if you want the kink it would probably be a case of calling samco and getting ripped off :(

Cheers!

Yes Paul its from Motorworld in Sudbury. I asked them ages ago actually and they said their Bury St Edmunds Shop always kept these in stock, I just never got round to looking there. I actually took all they had in stock, but I guess they'll be getting more straight in.

I'm loving the new Sig Dan, that is a good camera angle! I take it the wheels as they were on the old sig were just photoshopped? I think you should get them done like that! definately!

Ben B

cheers dude, I love taking pics and finally got chance to take some of my own car for a change in my old empty college car park :)

the wheels were 'shopped and they are an idea I've been toying with for a while now. I want to do it but obviously money is the hold back. I'm tempted to have a go myself but unsure if it will be anywhere near as easy as doing interior plastics.

@Ben - that looks great

@Dan - give them a go, mean the wheels.
Get some black wheel paint and do it your self. It looks harder than it is.

its defo aly pipe m8

looks real nice too

awesome value for money!

Between the 2 pipes? From the same place for about £5
The bend where it joins the engine is a cut up peice of the exsisting pipe

Ben B

all very very nice, BUT once the ally pipe gets warm from the engine wont this defeat the object of having an iduction kit?needing cold air and all

A little wire wool will get that engine looking nice.Tried that yet? Worked on mine.

That looks well weird Stuart. I thought the closed feed was supposed to run to the exterior of the filter. Yours looks to feed direct and yet filter from the engne bay too!???

@ Ben - Looks very nice indeed m8, just need to get your engine chromed to match ;)

@ Stuart - Definatly something wrong there m8, it looks like the air goes straight through the middle of your filter (ie. the air is not filtered), if so, change it asap to avoid doing serious damage to your engine :(

Daz

nah dude, his filter will have a bit of filter to filter inside that hole where the air is going (that makes sense :s)

The reason I would think its sluggish and uses a lot of fuel is because its too close to the engine, move it towards the wing more.
