I thought I'd post this as I recently bought a 32gb usb disk to fill with music to play in the car but it's taken me ages to get it fixed properly..
The blue and me would only find certain artists, usually folders starting at the end of the alphabet and working backwards. It seemed incapable of building a media library (it once had the please wait while the system builds the media library message for 40 minutes on the way home)...
Anyway, it is now fixed. Here's what I tried:
changing all tags to id3v2
clearing off all tags apart from artist, album, song
putting all songs in the root directory
plus a few other things, however I then tried:
running a program to fix any vbr (variable bit-rate) errors
converted all tags to id3v1
searched the entire drive for playlist m3u files and deleted them all
It now works, so if you're struggling I'd suggest giving these a go!
