Seicento My Little Red Sei...

Introduction

Well this is my pretty much standard Red(ish) Seicento...

I've had it since September last year, was at 71,000 miles and we're now up to 78,000 and now going stronger than ever :)

I haven't done much yet, mainly due to my insurance being so high since I'm 18.

Had an oil change & an ITG Foam Filter. Also got a new clutch and rear wheel bearings along with a new handbrake cable.

And of course I had to fit Abarth centre caps and black/red floor mats ;)

I've got some drilled discs and new OMP Sport pads to go on sometime soon.

(Sorry about the picture quality, I used my phone)

I gave in and resealed the cam cover, I cheated and only sealed one side of the old gasket since it wanted to stay in the cover I assumed it was sealed well on that side anyway...

It has a very small leak at the coil pack end but as it's not splashing oil all over the cambelt and down the front of the engine anymore, that'll do me! :)

I'm going to be picking up some new bolts and a bracket from the dealer on Thursday so it will be standard engine mounts all round on saturday so no more headache inducing rattles and vibration!!

It'll be on matching wheels soon too :D

Today I sorted the engine mounts, gearbox side is brand new, I left the tigersealed rear one is as it's in roughly the same condition as the one I was going to swap it for and the cambelt side got a nearly new engine mount.

The difference is fantastic, it now drives so smoothly and I don't have to keep it above 2k rpm to stop it rattling the **** out of itself. It drives with the refinement (if you can call it that in a cento) of a standard one and is pretty much silent up to 60mph, I can also hear both the exhaust (Over 3k rpm) and the radio now which is nice :D

The gearbox side was easy, rear mount was messy and the cambelt side was very awkward, not having a ratchet that fits down the side of the engine didn't help...

I have some new screws on the way so I can get the grills back in. The old ones were superbly rusty.

The car's now done just over 100k miles, meaning the engine has now topped 30k :)

Apart from a few minor things and the car is mechanically pretty much where I want it to be, just how I think the Sporting should have left the factory in the first place!

Newer top mounts went in today, old ones were knocking ALOT and superbly rusty. Now there's much less knocking and the wheels feel connected again :)

It still knocks over big bumps, I suspect it may be the ARB knocking as the bushes are thoroughly perished and have almost popped out of the brackets so thats the next job!

However it does still pull to the left quite a bit, the wheels are both pointing in the same direction and swapping the top mounts hasn't affected it, any ideas?

In case anyone wants to know the bulb for the rev counter is an R286.

As it wasn't raining I popped out today and acquired this :D

I was initially intending to get some smaller diameter hoses for the mpi/focus kit as it's blatently too big for the engine and I find it seems to bog down at lower revs.

Anyway it turns out this CDA fits my current induction kit perfectly! I bodged it on earlier but properly fitted it just now. (I include the use of cable ties as 'proper fitting' :p )

Excuse the terrible night time photo...

I think a slight gain could be had if I used smaller hoses or a reducer but it's staying as it is for now. However a new CDA sticker is on the way because it loses power without it ;)

Main thing is, after a quick test drive this evening, it's much faster :slayer: It now pulls much harder low down and right through the revs. It's really noticable in 1st/2nd/3rd, it gives a similar sort of feel/difference as a decat. Money well spent :D

New (larger) P75 oil filter went on today as did a pair of ceramic bulb connectors to replace my disintegrated/melted/non existant standard ones so I now have headlights that work!

I've not sat in traffic for long enough but I've been for a long drive and it would appear, so far, that the new oil filter has solved my oil pressure issues :D

I now have the new CDA sticker for added power!

Well after a long weekend of knuckling myself and getting stressed the Wolf Racing 1242 8v is now in and running :D

I started off late on friday evening, got the engine out, swapped all my mpi bits over and had it back in and running (on 3 cylinders) on saturday night. I reconnected the cooling system this morning, bled it all up, driveshafts back in and on the floor.

Thanks again to @Jd801 for popping over today to help sort a few little things. Re-timed it (1 tooth out), swapped the plugs and leads over, now it's running on all 4!

I barely took any photos of the swap, not that it matters as it looks identical to before aside from the blue block rather than silver.

It's now running well, it's hard to say how much faster it is than the standard P75 as the new clutch slips at full throttle. It does sound good at high revs and I would assume the crank has been balanced as it feels much smoother past 6k than before. With that and the lightened flywheel the throttle response is fantastic :D

I will be taking it reasonably easy for the next week to see if the clutch beds in and let the ecu re-learn the new engine. I need to get the exhaust sorted (blowing at both ends of the downpipe), put the inner arch back in, change the oil and coolant and of course cable tie the bumper back on and it will be finished!

It was a massive gamble taking an engine with unknown history and condition, doing nothing to it and just putting it in with the hope that it will run, thankfully things seem to be ok so far :)

Edit: If anyone is after a low mileage P75 1.2 thats not long ago had a head gasket set, 3 angle valves and a big skim, I have one for sale :p
