I cannot open the rear hatch on my car with my key..I have tried flushing it out with WD-40 but to no avail..it was working perfectly up till then...now any time I have to open it I have to use the internal release by the drivers seat...any ideas folks

Happens all the time on the Bravo's/ Plenty WD40 will EVENTUALLY sort it

Re: Re: My hatchback wont open

yeah, also, constantly putting your key in and turning then taking it out, wd40'ing in between, will loosen it up. i did this after mine had stopped working, made it better but i still have to turn the key twice for the boot to open, just one of those things, doesn't bother me anymore

Tried that guys but it aint budging..its starting to get on my tits now..

Re: Re: My hatchback wont open

Must check that out...there have been some scumbags seen around the cars near my house..they were messing with my car and a sweet black Alfa147

Mine stopped working last week. Key wouldn't budge a mm. I found that I had to put the key in, then push it to the right and turn it. Simple as that. Worth a try

Hi guys...I have tried all of your suggestions but the thing just aint moving..looks like I will have to go out and buy a new lock for the back unless you guys have any other suggestions??????

Right, my rear lock started to "lock up" excuse the pun last week. WD40 did help but soon went back to "lock up".

I think this problem is due to a lack of a cover for the key hole, well in my case anyway. All sorts of stuff can get in there.

Pete, does your lock move alittle bit but no way near enough to "click" it into place? mine did move a tiny bit but no where near enough.

The way i fixed it was to take off the rear lock and completely grease the baby up, this allowed for much easyer turning of the mechanism. It now works great, and turns easyly, i also greased the connecting rod ends which fit to the lock and the lock release mechanism.

Getting off the lock is not too hard, you do have these 2 white plastic clips that hold on the "rear handle" which where a bugger to get off but i wedged a screw driver in one side and pulled like hell and it budged...eventually. Theres also 4/5 bolts that hold this "handle" on which are hiddenish through the holes in the body that you can see once you take off the boot plastic covering. It aint to hard a job, do it! you will also find out if it has been glued.

My car is a Bravo 1.8hlx 98s

Re: ello pete

It will not move at all now....the gas axe is becoming a desirable option...I will try taking it off and giving it a complete overhaul...
