Good news is they have located an engine. They are going to get it swapped over for me next week, then after that the garage I’m using is closing and furloughing it’s staff as business has gone very slack.
Essentially despite the engine being designed to have the oil vacuumed out, there was still 100ml of oil in the sump, and it was only 5000mile service but that oil looked pretty horrible, so imagine what that final 100ml will end up like after multiple services.

When I serviced my van a little while ago I jacked it up in a way the sump plug was facing down, removed the oil filter left out the dip stick removed oil filler cap and left it to drain for a least an hour to let all the old oil drain out properly

Just to close this one off. I now have my Fiorino back. They fitted an engine from a 14 plate Fiorino with 57,000 on the clock. New timing chain, new water pump and new oil pump and pick up pipes, new clutch and also a new radiator as the old one was leaking on the offside.
Interestingly the clunking noise I was getting going over bumps that I previously mentioned in another post appears to have gone away so I’m wondering if it was the radiator that was making the noise ?*
