Is it me or is it really hard to check the oil in my bravo? Does anyone else have this problem!
I cant see where the oil mark is, and even if it were present, a max on min line!
So i just poured it a litre or so anyway!

Dip Stick

It shouldn't be hard to see the oil level on the dipstick. Take the dip stick out, wipe it, put it back in, pull it back out and look. There should be a clear line.

Questions and checks you should do:

Who last changed the oil and how competent were they?

Is it the correct dipstick? The only way to be sure you've got something approaching the correct volume of oil without the using the correct dipstick is to drain the oil and then refill with new oil, using the correct volume of oil recommended by the manual. Even then you'd need to source a correct dipstick for routine level checking.

Is there an oil leak or even evidence of a blown head gasket?

Have you now overfilled the engine with oil, as that can cause damage to the engine and catalyst?
