Re: My 1.6 Project log

thats a bit extreme isn't - the comments at the bottom!!
its a public forum, so everyone entitled to their opinion.

i have no idea if its safe or not, but are those parts that your machining, built for the tolerances which you have changed?

You got good ideas and enjoy putting them into practise..i'll give u that :)

Re: My 1.6 Project log

we all know you cant win an internet argument. So i guess by some twisted logic, we're applying the 'if you cant beat em, join em' methodology. :D Do unto thy neighbour as he would do unto you, but for christs sake, do it first ;)

I think it'll hold. Even though its old, worn, and starting to corrode :p Hope it works!

Re: My 1.6 Project log

at the end of the day buzz, i will know wheter itll hold or not when i drill it, the amount of shock and vibrations will give that 20 times the force then my breaking will...so if it breaks, i go for plan B...if it doesnt..i wait and see :)

Re: My 1.6 Project log

As i said on the phone mate, you will find out only when breaking hard!! when you least want to find out :)

I think you would have to be kanning it something terrible on a non stop abuse drive before it would sheer, any way if it does i think with all that metal ripping around inside the rim/wheel arch would slow you down :)

Hope it goes to plan,be a first,HGT brake upgrade on anything other than a HGT i think???

Cheers Scotty

Re: My 1.6 Project log

Sorry, what's the reason for the engine swap?

Vouch a lot of work there mate.

the engine had 130,000 miles on...and this one has 65,000 :) so id rather do this and spend some money increasing the speed etc. and making hte engine look nice knowing the chances itll last longer :)

Fair play, quite a bit of time and effort gone in to it so far. Was going well until that bumper went on ;).

Out of curiosity, how much has all this cost??

Oh and you might want to get those tiles sorted on the roof :).

If i was you mate i'd make sure that your metal air filter extension doesn't touch that positive terminal on the battery.

If that metal air pipe touches anything else in the engine bay thats metal it'll spark and possibly set your car on fire!

You don't want that with all the work your putting in.

@MG cheers mate, the amount of money is uncounted for to be honest, id say an easy 3-4 grand.

and Chris, i know lol i sopported it to one side with a long bolt, will be looking into securing it properly when the time comes...thanks for the concern though fella :)
