Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
right - update.

ive decided atm that i want a different car by next year. I still love the mk2, but i want to persue my dream of a real sportscar

and anyway, the car is almost finished in my eyes - ok, could do with an abarth bodykit, 16" alloys, and a bit more power, but i like it the way she is atm tbh

so the update is that there might not be anymore updates. That is, unless i change my mind (like thats never happened before )

that is all.

im sure every1 will persuade you not to leave the punto lifestyle:p

You do right. Punto's are crap (y)

Coupe next me thinks :chin:

no... im thinking about leaving for the dark side... Honda.

coupe.. yes... in the shape of the dc2 integra type R. Affordable at the end of the summer, if i save up right.

the integra is one of those "dream cars" that you always wanted - it is a car that i have always said that i would have one day, along with a few others, such as an alfa V6.
and why not get such a machine while you are still young, and dont have to have a car for practicality? if all goes well, next year i wont even need a car for work.

:D

(then again, i change my mind a lot, but im fairly settled this time)

Do it.

The only time in your life you can have a two seater and actually look good in it. DC2s are brilliant.

what technique did you use to spray the mirrors mate?
did you take the glass out or just mask over it?
i'm guessing you took the mirrors off lol

take them off, then the mirror will come out if you unhook the shifter lever - move the mirror to the furthest angle that it can go, and the mirror will come out with a lever to the clips that hold it to the rest of the mechanism.

after that, its just sand with 400 grit, 800 grit, primer, 1200 grit, more primer, 1200 grit, more primer, flat back, paint, flat back, paint, then lacquer. thats how i did it, the longer you spend working on them the better finish you get.

cheers mate thats wicked advice (y)
gonna do mine as soon as the weather lightnes up along with my handles
