Hi there,

I have been getting bad vibes from the front of my '01 Multipla 1.9 JTD recently when I reach the awesome warp speed of 45-50 mph. OK below that speed. Checked the obvious - wheel balancing. Done that - no improvement. Swapped wheels front and rear - no improvement. Today garage took car for a spin - mechanic said could be offside inner driveshaft/bearing. I have seen a secondhand driveshaft for sale online for a 1.9 JTD 04 to 10 model (MK2 Multipla). Anyone know if this driveshaft will fit my 01 model?

Fiat dealer has quoted £300 new for part. Local partstealer - £100+vat - bring in your old one for refurbishing.

Booked the car in for a full check on the garage ramp next week.

Kwikfit said (quote: "100 per cent") vibration was caused by worn trackrods (both sides), but I can't feel any play at all in the steering, so are they talking b*ll*cks?

Update/or how garages try to rip us off:

Vibrations cause:

Garage 1: "Track rods need replacing" (£200)

Garage 2: "Driveshaft needs replacing" (£140)
Asked garage to let me look when car on ramp. Told me come back at 9, came back at 5 to, they just said
this is what's wrong, this is how much. So no look see. Poor customer service, won't be going back to them. (n) Observation: All "girls" mags in the waiting area - do they get mostly women customers, who are perhaps easier to take advantage of? ie. "You need a new splitch splotch for your wing wong. £600 + vat". Customer: "Sounds like a bargain, and you're got Women's Own too". RAC Approved garage - lmao!

Garage 3: a) "Rear wheel bearing" (£60 labour, my part), b) "possible front suspension arm replacement" (£210 parts & £50 labour). Have sourced suspension arms for £41 or £54 inc VAT each, so garage charging more than double for arms. However, the garage actually rang me to let me have a look when car on ramp.

Had the rear wheel bearing done - vibrations gone completely. Car back to normal. :)
