All..I’ve a 03 mk1 multipla in blue, JTD 115...running absolutely perfectly.
However there’s a few spots of rust on the chassis rails that need sorting for NCT.

I just replaced both wishbones, a tie rod,a rear trailing arm bush.
Did the timing belt and aux belt and pulleys last summer.
Engine mounts recently too... thermostat and injectors the previous year and basically any serviceable part in the 6 years I’ve had it!

So I’d be willing to give it away to a multipla fanatic...but in reality you’d have to be in Ireland.
I’d really rather not scrap such a rare and well kept car.
A small donation to my kids school would be appreciated.

That's really sad news Marty. Finally decided that you can't keep it?

Have you tried posting a plea in the chat rooms on this forum to see if any kind soul nearby can sort out the welding for you?

You see I’m out of work right now, I’m not driving at all. (Bar the Missis car)

In fairness if I put my mind to it I could fix it myself, I have a small mig welder and all, (I’d need a bit of practice as I haven’t welded in about 5 years and was never a pro either) but I can’t justify the tax and Insurance on it right now and I’ve nowhere to store it.

I can buy a newer B class petrol merc and tax and insure it for less than 1 years tax and insurance on the multi.
Not that that fills me with excitement!!

It was fine when I was working I could justify a diesel as I was doing 80-100k a day on the motorway but now I’m just dropping the kids to school which is 1 kilometre... we usually go by bike anyway!

I’m hopeful circumstances somehow change and I get to keep the multi but at the minute it needs to go.
If I get a job I’ll get another one for sure.
I much prefer the look of the mark 1 but I’d probably try get as new as one as possible.
Marty.

Hi Marty,
Just seen your message. I run a 2004 model however the only difference is the body style. I've had to do the same welding, it is a common place for the rust, usually the front right subframe upright. I prefer the older look to the newer one. Also it is the only car I can drive without getting backache!
Any how, you said that you wanted it to go? I'm certainly interested in taking it off your hands. Where abouts are you and what are you looking for it?
Many thanks, James

Hi James... it’s in limerick. I’ve actually replaced front subframe so that’s ok. It’s the legs that go from chassis rails out to the sills... there’s 4 of them and all 4 are crumbling, there’s also a section on the chassis rail itself back passenger side near enough fuel tank.

Hi Marty, Thanks for the offer on your Multipla. Sadly mine has just failed on rusty sills where the jacking points are plus swinging arm baring worn. replaced the bearing 2 years ago. So have made the decision to scrap her as there is always something needed to be done to keep her going.
James
