jtd or petrol?

if its a jtd and you made your own bottom sprocket timing mark then youre ok. the cam pulley notch lines up with the plastic arrow in the end of the rocker cover and the high pressure pump doesnt need timing.

if its a petrol, the only way to do it properly is with a timing tool kit unfortunately. you could try and bodge it and do it with the cam pulley lines that kind of face each other in an arrow shape lined up, then use something down number 1 plug hole to get top dead centre, but you wont ever tension it properly unless youve got the timing kit.

ive just sold a multi that i bought with 16 valves bent because someone did it this way. you know, tippex marks everywhere etc etc....
