Hi,can anyone help???.
The alternator on my multipla has just died and the garage has said that to replace the alternator they also have to replace the cam belt which could cost major money.
Anyone any idea of how much should be paying as been ripped off so many times before.
Many thanks in advance

Alternator runs off the aux belt, not the cam belt, suggest you tell the garage to send the staff to Specsavers. Trying it on!!

Where are you in Cheshire ?

I am based in the Wirral, the Fiat Independents are Olympic Garage in Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, very resonable and good service, Also Ray Holt Italia Motocare, off junction 1 off the M53, in Wallasey. They will not rip you off and you will not have a scary bill.

Olympic also fit customers spares, so if you can get an alternator, they will just charge to fit it>

If the AUX belt needs changing, should be done when cam belt is changed as makes sense, they do not cost more than £15 from a motor factor.

Cam belt not needed, reckon any garage is £100 ish depending on labour costs, ive just had this matter resolved (i found i still had ours under warranty so all done)

had to take front section of exhaust off for clearance

apart from that a std alternator setup
