Technical multipla 100 16v elx engine management light problem ??

hi , im a new owner of a multipla 100 16v elx 2001 model and have a problem with the engine management light staying on , engine control fault ? with the annoying beep all the time , can anyone advise on what to try to resolve this as its driving me nuts and the car drives fine with no apparent issues , any help or info appreciated , best regards gaz
