Technical mrs kerry buttery, help car went bang, gearbox or clutch?

Hi ,only just joined as I `m at my wits end and looking for some answers please. Had my fiat brava sx 8o 1242cc since may and i`ve had no problems. went out yesterday and it felt as if it were springing back when I turned right. just nipped up to local shop started jolting bit making bit of banging noise. came out shop set off made most awful grinding noise felt as if entire engine was falling out. had to free wheel it down home . It starts up fine but refuses to go in any gear except reverse but still makes grinding noise. clutch feels exactly same as before, gearstick not stiff or anything, I`ve really no idea. I thought if clutch were going I would have had some kind of warning but up until the pulling feeling yesterday everything was hunky dory . hope someone can make a suggestion.thanks

Sounds like the release bearing has colapsed and the bearing arm is tearing into the clutch pressure plate. You can get an idea of how the clutch is by taking the inspection cover on the gearbox housing off and looking in but youll have to take the box out to fully inspect it keep us posted
