I want to record a show from a streamed radio site, everything I can find costs money, the best thing is called replay radio but costly, I would settle for a mp3 recorder, (like sound recorder but will record a lot longer and into mp3) any ideas?

Cheers
Paul

Hi,

If you only need it for a short period of time, download a trial of Adobe Audition. This works for a month and allows you to "record" a radio stream as a MP3 or various other formats. You can then create a CD list and burn a CD as well.

It will record anything which goes through your sound card even if protected, however it will only record in real time, so you have to record as you stream.

Send me a PM if you need help setting it up.

Cheers Andy, I would like it for the long term future, see I like Johnaton Ross but I often miss the show and don't always have chance to listen to it in the week at which point it is replaced by next week's show. It would be handy to record the show when it happens and then have a back up of it which i would delete after a week or two when I have listened to it. I also sometimes have the odd show I want to record (like Van Morrison a week or two ago) that only broadcasts for a week - not to keep forever, just for a few listens.

I have a few programs I downloaded that will record into mp3 but they all have time limited recording OR only work for x days - where has all the free software gone these days?! lol

Often I like recording things and it would be nice to have something to do it with for free.

Paul, have a look for MagicSofts Soundcapture. I've used it to rip off internet radio before and it's pretty decent. Records direct to MP3, plenty of adjustments for bitrate/recording level etc. If you can't find it let me know and I'll email it to you.

Cheers Jonny sounds like what I need, got a problem in that none of the download sites seem to have it anymore!?

Any chance of emailing it to me please then? If so, I think my yahoo address is best;

Cheers

Wor Nick, I know about it but generally they only keep it on for a week and sometimes and forget, this way I can record it at any time and listen at any time :D

Also I know I will use it for other things I am sure.

For similar future warez, a good place to start is www.mpegx.com.

They have a wide range of audio and video software, some freeware, but also trial, demo and shareware versions of things. I find it very handy, because I can find out which has all the features and ease of use, before commiting myself to illegally downloading the full version on P2P.

i want one, they is propa wicked, you can connect some of the bestist ones to your ICE in your car so you got constant tunes

get me

Paul,

CD EX has a recording function, plays whatever is going through your soundcard or onboards sound and also has a choice of recording formats.

THATS where you get CDEx from!! :D I had it a while ago but lost the installer when I wiped my hard disc, and haven't been able to track it down since. Its a cracking little prog for ripping CDs off, the CDDB feature is particularly good (y)

Glad someone else like the same things as me! Yeah JB it's a class act, cd in, connect to the net and instant MP3 tags!

And also a whole host of other features like conversion and stuff.

Also I believe Windows Movie Maker (standard on XP) will record audio. Like Sound Recorder but for as long as your hard drive will handle.

Select Record (Ctrl-R) and then Audio Only - then set the Audio input device to "Wave" or "soundcard" or whatever your soundchipset is called.

I use WMM to record my dog while I'm at work... see what the big muttley is up to.
