Is it true that i could buy a set off alloy wheels from a vauxhall with 100mm between nuts and use some bolts that give a little move, please help also how much are these bolts?

i have never heard of anyone doing that and it sound to dangerous to try with out professional advice, if the nuts are smaller then the wheel can move surely the wheel will rock back and fourth when accelerating or breaking, slam on the brakes and you could shear the nuts losing your wheel and stacking the car...

You can do it with special nuts with a 'loose' collar. The collar still locates into the countersink in the alloy as normal but has 1mm or so movement to allow it to fit.

The drive stresses should be taken on the mounting lugs, not the bolts really.

Re: Re: moving nuts

Yeah, that's what I heard. "wobbly Bolts" are fine, because the bolts don't actually take the weight of the wheel the centre hub does. I've never actually seen any, but they are apparently commonly used.

Re: Re: Re: moving nuts

Thanks guys
any idea how much they cost?

Hi

I use wobbly nuts on my alloys. They are absolutely fine, except that the thread, or length of nut is shorter than the usual ones.

Cant remember how much they cost, but they look identical to the normal ones so cant see them costing a lot (you can phone Elite in Essex and find out)

help me 2

some one told me about "wobbley nuts" i have 15" nice alloys in my shed going to waste, that i want to put on my bravo because i have shitty 14" normal wheels on at mo, theyre called league 065,
are these so called "wobbley nuts" safe, seems mad to me, as the wheels are kinda the most important thing,

these are the alloys in my shed off me old renault 5

hope ya can help guys n girls

Re: help me 2

They can only correct a small difference in PCD. You still need the correct offset.

You need to check the offset and PCD of your wheels.

Re: Re: help me 2

just drill a new set of holes in the wheels. it'll be rite

ha

drill new holes, or etch the sides to make em larger, hahahahaha, NO!...... still no one has answered the main question though, will these wobbley nuts fit my "nova" "renault 5" alloys to my bravo, its only for temp use,

also, i actually got 3 bolts on whilst trying to fit them originally to the bravo and i have to say there was about 3mm in difference on the last bolt, but still i couldnt get the fu**er in!

im gonna get some sexy OZ 17 or 18"s on credit sooner or later, i hate normal wheels with trims

Re: ha

As I said, you NEED to find out the PCD of those alloys. If they are more than 100mm then its unlikely they can be made to fit.
