I have just orded a Sparco roll cage, in the front you make a little boks and bolt it to that, but have do I mount it right behinde the seats??

Sorry for the bad english:rolleyes:

Thanks.

I have seen a lot of photos from Brookys Cinq, but none of the monting in the back. I have also sent him a pm some weeks ago, but no reply.
Do you know if the bolts go the hole way to the underside of the car?? or you just weld 4 nuts on the back of the ekstra 3mm plate that you weld in the car behinde the seats??

If you're going to use it in any kind of competition, you should find a scrutineer and check with him/her.

I've never done it (and don't intend to), but, were I doing it, where a mount is on a single panel, I'd make up a plate for the inside and one for the outside. To the outside one I'd weld captive nuts. I'd weld it up with the frame bolted in. Were it through a box section, I'd do the same but weld in a tube so that the box section did not crush.

Where practical make the plates so they take loads on two planes, L shaped or even Z shaped rather than _ shaped.

Hope that helps. Arc and Rallycinq who have both done it should be along soon.................

If practical, make the plates

Weld it with the cage stressed / installed. You could easily find that the cage will displace slightly upon installation...so mounts may not necessarily line up to where you were expecting.

Fingers' idea about the double-sided plate is a good one...go for at least 3mm mild steel and spread the load over a realistic area - if youre gonna though-bolt the plates use a good grade hi-tensile bolt

I would do and have been thinking about doing so recently having just bought a Nissan 300zx TT cheap as it needs work so I really need to fund that as summer is on its way!!

Im not sure I would get the right money for it though and would probably kick myself once the 300zx novelty has worn off.

I could be pursuaded though. I have the front+rear original Hormann bumpers plus the moulded wide arches and as they say everthing is for sale!!

Looks good, Thanks Brooky...

Do the bolts go all the way to to bottum of the car, and the nuts are there??
or under the plate??

theres a hole you can get to one of the bolts, if you have flexible arms you might be able to reach another.
If not then you'll have to drill holes from underneath so you can get a socket and extension up to the bolts thats what i will be doing and thats what the last person had done to the cinq i got the cage out of.

I dont know where Davids or Nitranes cages mounts as i think the OMP cages go right down to the floor, and i dont know what cage they have

Okay, I think I can get 2 of the bolts from the hole in the side of the car.
The cage dont need to be boltet to more than the 100x100mm plate?? If it were mounted to more of the chassi under the plate, it might get a stronger chassi....
I dont know, but bolt it to the plate is quite easy then.

Thanks
