Motorway Speed Limit set to rise.

Motorway Speed Limit set to rise.

Similar if more brief PH article... http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=24434I for one don't see why this hasn't been done already. A fair few things in terms of road laws and highway code have been ripe for revision for years now and we're behind the rest of the continent as a result. Of course that said, the actual road infrastructure isn't on par with France or Germany, so even partial de-restricted sections on the motorway won't be happening any time soon, but a 10mph increase is a start.

Sorry guys I've not had time to read through your links but on question time last night they said this would only apply to England, and it would be a matter for the Scottish parliament to implement it if it did happen in England? so don't bet on having it increased even if it happens at all?,

Cheers Don

it's not going to happen

any reason to say "yes" is outweighed by the polution argument. the government cant be seen to be causing more polution when they are trying to reduce the countrys output of harmful gasses

although they could do that by just exporting the politicians elsewhere tbh.....

Aye well the Goverment create enough pollution just talking...
As Rob said a 10MPH increase would be a start, lets hope that the Fish (Alex Salmond & Nicola Sturgeon) allow the 10MPH speed increase in Scotland.

again, it wont happen.

as a country, we are ploughing millions into renewable energys and improving our carbon footprint, theres no danger that they will agree to changing something that will increase polution

One flaw in the argument - either for or against....

Take Glasgow and the Central belt out of the equation and there are no motorways in Scotland.

That said, I think Mark is on to something. They'll talk about it, but I can't see it happening sadly.
