any suggestions to what tyre pressures for a 1988 deisel 5 berth Adria motorhome about 6 metres long with 195 R x14, there are badges on the front wings with 14 on, but do not know the weight of the vehicle, the german handbook says 48 psi but should that be raised do you think for the extra weight, any suggestions please..FF

Hi,

The best way to get the correct tyre pressures is to load your van as you would for a trip and take it to the nearest weigh bridge. Check the weights on the front and rear axles separately. Then contact your tyre manufacturer and (hopefully) they will be able to give you a range of tyre pressures to suit running loaded and empty.

Hope this assists

Thanks for that suggestion, but the vehicle had already gone to Europe, and they have been suffering from failing tyres, (all the old ones I hasten to add) the tyres were on the vehicle when we purchased it and all looked to be OK looking like new, and passed the MOT, but not knowing how old they are could be the problem, i wondered also if they were slightly under pressure, perhaps I could ask you forumers what pressure you put in your 195R x14 tyres? then I might get an average, ....FF

Hello again FF, our motorhome is similar to yours in terms of weight, length, age and model it seems. On the inner face of drivers side pillar is the tyre pressure sticker which says fully laden 60psi front and 70psi rear. Ours is a little bumpy at those so levels and the digital garage ones only go to about 60psi so try 60 to the rear and 50 to the front. Ours seems ok at these.

regards

Simon

Thanks for that G.D. I think they can up the pressure a bit then!, I will text them, I had already said put 50 psi in front and rear. They had the water pump fail in Switerland, which was expensive to replace, but other than that not doing too bad, considering we pulled it out of a garden where it had laid for 4 years, cheers FF
