Re: Mot

It passed. thank god i'm skint enough as it is!

I understand that the free retest thing was not compulsory for garages. However there must be a financial reason why garages tend not to offer a free retest.

Re: Mot

Mine failed first time, centre exhaust had hole on the flexible joint; FIAT gave me £200 compensation :D

Sister had her 7yr old Punto 60SX (40k on the clock); sailed through, emissions were better than mine I think! (Well they definitely beat my dads BMW! :D)

You dont sound very confident Matt do you think its going to fail ? I always say no one know their car like the owner so whats wrong with it that makes you think its going to fail ? you always have until Tuesday to part ex it ;)

Re: MOT on Tuesday

Re: MOT on Tuesday

i kno what you mean, mine failed its first MOT on friday so i dont have a car atm

has completely screwed me over as im working night shifts atm, so the poor old der has to take me back and fourth to work at rather unsocial hours

.......And the reason it failed - apparently exssessive damage to the front offside brake hose  - but when my old man checked the car to sort out replacing it - the exssessive damage it the size of a pin prick it took quite awhile to find it :bang: and he was a MOT tester when he worked at a garage and could believe it was brought up as exssessive  - so ive order a new flexi hose now, but not from fiat - read below!!

Also i should really be putting a thread about this in the garage section (all little of topic! but hey!) when i rang fiat to find out if they had this part in stock or should i say tried to ring - it was a friday 5pm, plenty of time as they dont close till 5.30pm!!!!! The dealership answer said they wold transfer me to the parts desk and hung up the phone? this happened 3 times :bang: Coinsidently when i tried ringing again they didnt answer the phone, so i rang with a withheld number and guess what, "yes one moment, we'll just transfer you sir. . . . . . brrrrrrrrrr" they'd hung up again! So i wasn't very happy on friday to say the least. Then when i rang back on saturday and spoke to a guy on the parts desk i was on hold for 15minutes for him to tell me the price and oh they couldn't have one in till thursday :bang: ....yet after ring another company who deals with car parts they ordered the part and it should be here tomorrow (monday morning) or tuesday at the latest. And i was only on the phone for a few minutes. I know i wont be dealing with fiat now my car is out of warrenty i know some good private garages thankfully :)

Just hope you have more luck than me matt, it was something not expensive but just annoying and a pain in the ar$e.

Re: MOT on Tuesday

Wont need hoses on mine for the foreseeable future as mine has now braided hoses yes these are dearer than standard ones but then I wont get the inconvenience again. SO when I do a job on my car I always think this way as with the hoses as in the long run it works out cheaper in garage bills and inconvenience :)

Got them here www.balancemotorsport.co.uk all the specs for them have been sorted Rob [tooks 3weeks to sort] so you could get them in about a week worth while doing my brake pedal feels so much getter as well (y)

Re: MOT on Tuesday

bloody hell, whatever happened to the friendly local MOT bloke who'd just sort something like that and pass it or get you to do it after, :D

Si :slayer:

Re: MOT on Tuesday

Hmm, although surely just a realignment charge (i.e. 15 seconds to turn a screw) and then a pass??

Our Stilo failed this too; apparently there are tolerances for each headlight, one was on the uppermost, the other on the lowermost, so the dealer aligned it, charged us £30 labour to do it (without asking!) and passed it. We questioned it, they said it wouldn't have failed, just that it needed doing. So, we then pointed out that a few months before they had fitted a new set of headlight units under warranty, so with a complaint phone call, charge was refunded next day :D.

Hope all gets sorted Matt, could have been worse!

Mine failed on a dipped beam bulb pointing towards the ground too much..........i was like are you having a laugh!

How unreasonable is that?. That should have just been adjusted and passed without issue. I would give them a round of fooks on collection.

As rroope said, could have been worse.
