mot/ subframe

had the mot done today and it needs a new front subframe, drove back earlier and the car is pullin loads too the right would this have anythin to do with the subframe. Also does anyone know how much i should be lookig to pay.

Front sub frame is relatively cheap. Around £60 - £80 fitted I would have thought.

i got quoted from fiat...£400 for a new subframe

The garage said id be lucky to get one for 100 then 140 quid labour.

the thing is i had some work done about 1 month ago and i had a pre mot check done and he didnt mention the subframe so ive spoke to him about it and he said there was nothing wrong with it and he cant belive it failed on that

Possibly got a bit of corrosion on it. Get underneath and have a good look, If it is weak anywhere should weld up ok. Can't be that bad or your man would have spotted it

Mentioned about welding it up and he wouldnt have it, says it needs a new one

Read before about a coupe front subframe that rusted and collapsed. To remove it you must undo the wishbones, Arb droplinks, exhaust downpipe, Exhaust heatshield needs to be lowered, centre engine mount.Then the 8 subframe bolts. Thats a nice bit of labour for someone not used to taking the bravo apart. Ive probably done it 4 or 5 times so Im pretty quick at it now.

Maybe if the corrosion on yours isnt too structural you could get it sandblasted or clean it with grinder and wire wheel. Then get it powder coated or paint it yourself.

I have now been told by 2 places that there is nothing wrong with the subframe. and i need to change the bottom radius arm bushes on the drivers side, but cant seem to find any online, gonna get that done and stick it in for its mot elsewhere

even if you take it for a MOT somewhere eles it will show up on the computer what it faid on, if you have any doubts about the mot place take it to your local DVAL MOT site and have it tested by them and explain why....
