Relieved to hear that you've kept the Uno alive. It still looks like a fairly good example. What happened about the buckled wheel and the dislocated coil spring?

I've found with the rear lights that it helps to solder the bulb holders onto the 'circuit board' with some Duzall flux. The plug and terminals probably need cleaning also. Sometimes the quick fix is to add an earth wire from the bulb holders to the bodyshell.

Did you bleed the brakes or something - what was the long pedal travel?

Replacing the driveshaft boot should cost far less than £75! :eek:
Is it an inner boot or an outer boot? Neither is very difficult, you just unbolt part of the suspension (as you well-know)... you can replace the boot more easily than replacing the driveshaft, as you don't have to undo the hub nut. The driveshaft comes out of the outer CV once you release the circlip, although this can be difficult to see as it is covered in dark green, black, or grey grease.

Anyway, good work so far. At least that rust is taken care of now, must have been rusting for some time before. Black paint looks OK for now doesn't it ;) Remember if you do decide to repaint, PLEASE polish-up the existing paint first, you'll save yourself a great deal of grief trying to match the red. :) I've seen the result of people trying to match the faded red paint, and later when the rest of the car is polished, it's a disaster.

its all sorted now,

i replaced the brake fluid and had a garage bleed them and it was all sorted, i changed the whole driveshaft from my other car and its all sorted,

i'm not going to do any of the bodywork so that'll be up to the new owner when i sell it.

either way it passed so i'll be at the uno meet this saturday :)
