General MOT failure

Unfortunatly my red mk1 uno has failed its mot, garage reckon about 500 quids worth of welding are needed to save it, so the plan is gonna be to strip it and use it as a donor car to get my black mk1 on the road,

i am gutted but still, plan is to strip the car on saturday and swop the engine over the same day 8am start. gonna store all the parts from it and sell whatever i dont require or want to keep,

in the years i was driving mine, not once did it ever pass first time

is it only the welding that is failed on?!

am gonna see what i can do before i strip it,

the sills, inner wing and part of the floor needs welding, it also needs a new cv joint, new fuel cap, the brakes bleeding and some bulbs.

so really the only MAJOR thing is the welding, all the other bits and easy jobs.....

Dont do it!!!!! Repair the car or atleast give someone the oppertunity to save it!!!!

car is being welded now, garage have agreed 300 which is reasonable.

should be all sorted in a week or two

Good news glad to hear you're saving the car. Is £300 just the welding or the entire list of defects as that sound pretty reasonable if it is. Quite some list that!

300 is just the welding, the rest is only small little problems, a dodgy earth for the lights has created almost a whole page

car has been all welded back together, no joke the amount of welding needed was unreal when they showed me, there was a hole in the inner wing which you could stick your hand through lol! both sills were rotten and so was part of the floor

I owe the lads a favour who sorted it for me, in the end it came to the passenger footwell, both sills inner and outer, and 2 parts of the drivers side inner wing,

car is now solid as a rock and will be for years to come, all undersealed too

unfortunatly part of the rear quarters on both sides are painted black as when the sills were cut out and new ones welded on the paint was burnt, you can see it in the pictures which i took of the Turbz in the garage car park,

Roll on re-MOT next week ;-)

finally got the car back home now, gonna replace the one driveshaft this weekend and re-mot'd next week

Well done mate you know it makes sense after all what can 300.00 get you now adays..... Buy your self a welder, Dead easy to do, If you own a fiat you must own a welder.....

MOT is booked in now for next friday, I'm taking the driveshaft off either tomorrow or wednesday to get it re-conditioned for £75. then its all sorted! finally.
