(y)Sorry to say Orange Wheeled wonder is no longer mine! I really miss the beast.

Glad to say its gone to someone that will take good care of it.

Hes got in touch saying he wants to get a bit more out of it.

So far performance mods are:

Tricker TB, McKritch ECU, GSR induction, P60 Engine, Miltek exhuast, Lowered 40mm, and rolling on 185 50 14,

What more could be done (i know theres loads more but would should be done)

Cheers

I read that the GSR doesn't go too well with the 40mm TB because the induction tubing is too restrictive?

This is a ridiculous question.. whats he willing to spend, how competent with the spanners is the owner???

The list of what could be done is endless. What clock said, or could go for turbo conversion or could go for 1.2 16v or 1.4 16v. Or you could do something more unusual and untried. But as i said, theres no point making recommendations unless you give us an idea of budgets etc.

Just read that back and sounds a bit confrontational, wasn't meant to ;)

The spec list so far is pretty good - going further is potentially expensive and complicated.

Getting the head ported, a lumpier cam and fitting larger inlet valves is where I would be tempted to go *but* the chipped ECU would then struggle as the flow characteristics would likely be outside what it was programmed for so you'd be looking at a more (easily) programmeable ECU to replace it with. The fuel pump will struggle too once the injector is operating to spec (that poor spi injector will be maxxed out as well), the cascade of bits that need upgrading just gets longer and longer.

The previous comment is the most salient one though - how much does this guy want to spend and where is hoping to get to performance wise?

I've had 150bhp out of my 1242 8v but the cost is painful and I should have been locked away for being mad enough to do it. Getting 100bhp out of a 1242 8v isn't so bad but you can do that just by dropping a 1.4 16v in. We had about 130bhp out of the 1.2 16v (again expensive) but on that basis I would guess (no promises) that you could get an easy 130bhp out of the 1.4 and upto 160bhp with lots of money *but* you can get that with the 1.4 turbo and so it goes on....

Thanks for the replies guys...

I dont think he knows much when it comes to actual mechanical side of things so everything will be on a added labour charge.

I was personally thinking 4-2-1 manifold, 866 cam and light flywheel (as clock34 said)

there was a few bits for sale recently but he didnt get back to me quick enough to buy them, I know its like hot cakes!

He has said "the car is my baby so dont care what it costs me" but truth be told his wife wont be too happy!

Will confirm budget but i think spending on getting little parts right is the way i would have done it (like i already modded it) and turboing it.

Or the other option is buy emmas turbo! hehe.

Is it tricky doing an MPI conversion? And any idea of rough BHP its got atm?

Sorry i havent made a comment on other things mentioned above, some is already beyond me. Once I have a budget will ask more- dont wanna waste anyones time :)

cheers

cant remember what i payed for mine ow but im sure it was around 30-40 quid for a 3.6kg one, my ss mani was 160 and cam 20 quid so you could get them all IF you rlucky and there are no other bidders haah
