Greetings!
I am looking to purchase my first modern classic, a Punto 1.2 16v (1999 (I think its still a MK1) 5dr, black, 40k). It's in excellent condition with 12 months mot. Does anyone have any thoughts on how much I should be looking to offer? Will this be an appreciating classic? Are there any of the mechanicals (specific to this model) I should check over?
Thanks in advance!

Hi
Sounds like you’ve found a low mileage looked after car 👍🏻
Rust was a big issue with the mk 1s so I’d have a good look around underneath the car to check for bad repairs etc , could be costly to put right. Think the mechanicals ar pretty robust though.
The 5 door is probably not going to be worth 1000s even in mint condition , definitely a modern classic though and cheap to run .

These are more a, its worth what someone will pay.. a really clean mk1 punto is a rare thing, would anyone put a high value on one, probably not yet. But by the same token, if you have one and people come to look at it you know you have a rare thing.
As Steve says, your looking for a tidy shell more than anything else at this point, most parts are still plentiful and cheap but fixing rot is either expensive or time consuming if you are able to do it yourself.

Hi

Look at the codes 🙂
176 is mk1
188 = mk2

£1200 to £1500 if its really clean and straight..

Are you due a £400 engine service this summer? 🤔

Timing overhaul, plugs and oil, plus "corrections"

Coil packs are all in one for the 16v I seem to recall (had a 188 sporting)
