I keep seeing threads in LL about which mobile should I buy next. Wouldn't it be better to have section dedicated to mobile phones? Already have a section for Sat Navs so it kinda makes sense I think.

I reckon a mobile phone section would get even less interest than imaging. That had loads more people demanding it and you can see how dead it is.

On that note, is having separate Computing and Gaming sections necessary? The Gaming forum really does get little use.

It does have 11,000 posts in it, compared to 15,000 for Computing. I think that is good use.
It sees more use when big games have come out that everyone buys or new consoles are out...although do notice DSi appears to have passed unnoticed.

Count how many posts have been made in the last week. Hardly any.
In the last month 13 threads were created and/or posted in. Only 7 of those threads have gone over 1 page if you're on the basic forum setting of 15 posts per page. Is that really worth having a separate section? The imaging section has seen more action than that and one mod has already said that it doesn't get used enough...
IMO it's like splitting the Cento section into separate Cinq and Sei sections. Or splitting the Punto section into mk 1 and mk 2 sections.
Keep them seperate. Computers and games are two totally different area's in my view.
Gaming is something I have no interest in, computing needs to be seperate so all the important help threads are noticed
