I have a 2001 1.2 8V 44kW Mk2b model on which I swapped out a faulty ecu. Now the car runs fine except it stops at random times (sometimes while idling, sometimes during driving). The fix is either waiting some time or briefly disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery.

To solve the issue, i replaced the connections to the battery, i treated some of the earthing pieces along the negative wire and installed a new wire directly from the negative terminal to one of the igniton coil screws. I tested the voltage on the battery when the engine was running and when it was not, it was fine. I also swapped around some of the relays and swapped in some new fuses as well. These didn't help, i'm still experiencing the same issue. Car otherwise drives like before. There is no check error/warning light nor are there any stored OBD errors.

What should I look at next? What could cause this issue?
