Hello guys me again, I'm a complete novice when it comes to wiring speakers so I need some help. I was given some pioneer 6x9 speakers but I don't know if the red wire goes onto the big spade connector or little

I also don't know which wires I need to connect to on the back of my stereo. With the red and black wires from my speakers so I would be greatful for any help. I just want to simply install them direct to the head unit.

Here are the pics of my speakers and the wires on the head unit

Hi mate,

Firstly do you have rear speakers either side of the parcel shelf? This would make things a lot easier if you do.

If not, then on the ISO wiring harness at the back of the head unit....

The "green" and "green and black" wires are for the left rear speaker.
The "purple" and "purple and black" wires are for the right rear speaker.

The purple and the green cables are the speakers + output. so have a look on the speakers connectors and one may be marked with a + or a -

This is of course assuming you are going to run them straight from the head unit and not via an amp.

Hi Alan first of all yes I'm running direct of the head unit, there is no rear speakers in the car I've also had alook and there is no wires to the back so I'm going to be wiring from the head unit.

For the speakers it is coaxial so do I put the red wire on the big metal spade or small.

Thank you again Alan.

the red wire at the back of the stereo is 12v +

The speakers dont use 12v as such

As Alan stated
There are 2 wires to EACH speaker
One positive and one negative

These go to the back of the headunit via colours a1ant stated

If you put 12v to them - expect a possible bang :)

If you dont have the wiring, then you need to run 4 wires to the boot :) 2 to each speaker :)

Sorry I should correct my self the wires that I have bought was speaker wire from halfords which is colour coded as red and black.

Red I'm guess is for positive and black for negative

So what I'm asking is on the speakers which connector is for positive and which for negative as seen in the photo ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1399314368.972930.jpg

Hi mate,

The larger connector is the + ie purple on the right speaker and green on the left speaker. The smaller ones are the -

Thanks mate sorted got my boom boom boom noise thingys working lol. I've been driving for 6 years and have never wanted loud speaker but I think I'm getting the punto boy racer fever.

Might as well put a jap can on it lol. My airfilter already makes the turbo whoosh noise which is weird.

Ow god what the hell is happening to me. I'm 26 I should not be going through my midlife crisis just yet. Ah I will blame this one on my kids. Lol
