Hi, first post would really appreciate some help.
My 2000 Mk2 Punto was in a bump and was off the road for 4 months while new rad, new crank shaft sensor and new oil pressure switch were installed and body work was done.
On reciving the car back i was informed that i needed to by a new battery as the car was off the road for so long. After replacing the battery when the car is started the power steering does not work and the dash light comes on, however if i run drive the car for 30secs or so, turn the ignision off and on again the light goes off and steering works perfectly for as long as i run it.
If the engine is only off for a short period then i can start it again and steering works 1st time. Also more strangely sometimes the steering will work 1st time after a day or two, usually in cold weather.
Any idea on why this is happening and how i can fix it (preferably without going to fiat) would be greatly appreciated
Also, air bags have not been replaced yet if this makes a difference and on this note does anyone know how difficult it is to blank a dash light?
Thanks, Joe
