Technical Mk2 Punto Mia Y Reg 2001

Mk2 Punto 1.2 8 valve.
Hi, I brought this car off ebay, I had to change the body computer to get the electric windows and centrol locking to work, So i brought the body computer with lock set and 1 key, but it came without the ECU, So i brought a blank one off ebay. Key light goes out, but car won't start.
Can anyone please help.

were did you get body computer from and why order it with

you will also need a code card

also you need fiat examiner to sort the key programming out aswell

basically you have taken on a job that only a dealer can carry out

also there's no such thing as a blank key for mk2 they all come pre cut and will only work with the car they were intended for

well tats no good surely if the windows central locking are not working

because of a body computer fault you would order that only they come programmed to the keys for the car and the remote too last one I fitted did

then again if it's just central locking and windows do these not have a dedicated fuse or are they entirely body computer controlled

well you cant buy a body computer from ebay that will work

you have to buy these from fiat

so they are matched to the engine ecu and keys for your car

the ones you see on ebay are taken from scrapped cars but will only work with the car they were taken from (sellers don't realise this)

when you order from fiat a blank is taken and programmed with all the data needed to work with your car and your car only

it's then sent to the garage that ordered it for fitting

I'm afraid it look like you have wasted your money

are right now i understand what you have fitted

depending on model and year of car the body computer came from it may have different pin lay outs from your car's wiring and may not work

am i right in saying
you have a second hand body computer and key with locks that you have swapped over also so you are now using the new key

and a new blank engine ecu

if so it should run

but during fitting of the body computer you may have snagged the aerial wires for the body computer to read the code they are quite venerable when fitting body computer

another possibility is that the parts you have fitted are faulty

what exactly does the code light do when you turn on the ignition

when i put key in the key light comes on but it dose go out but takes a long time to go out i think the key is not program to body computer

when i plug the old body computer u can hear the pump running

were exactly did the body computer come from and what was it advertised as new used and so on

all i can tell you is it will only work with it's keys or keys ordered to the chasis number of the car it came from witch you cannot obtain without proof of ownership of that car or it's chasis number if you have it's keys and it don't work it's due to differences in pin layouts on it

all you can do is pay for a new body computer from fiat ordered to your cars chasis number and then refit with your original engine ecu and keys

this will work
