Technical Mk2 Punto: Is my power steering on the way out?

Basically, yesterday the power steering light stayed on after starting the engine and the steering was really heavy.

Left it 10 mins, tried again and all is good and up to now (touch wood) is working ok.

Is this a warning sign of anything more serious coming up?

probably... mine came up once, a couple of weeks passed and one day it just refused to work at all

I had that once, so i stopped using my city streeing never had the problem since, also sometimes happens when the battery is on its way out.
