hiya i'm in the process of changing my head unit and i am following this guide to feed my stereo to the ignition

https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guide...-wires.html

now this works, however whenever i turn off the ignition it resets itself, causing me to lose all my preset stations, settings etc

does anyone know how to correct this or whether it is a case of changing it back to before and deal with it

after looking at the wiring diagrams, i see that the feed from the battery to the unit is red/white wire in plug 4, and on my head unit the continuous feed is yellow wire, so do i hook these two up and it should work?

i dont want to be blowing fuses or electics, even worse the cd player so so definate advice would be handy

can't believe no one can help me, i'm about 60% sure that that is right but need reassurance

normally yeallow its switched feed red perm as far as i know. But its irrelevant you wont blow up the unit if you just play with the combinations of the red and yellow. They are coming off the same power source arent they. So it will either work or not work

ok cool, i have checked the wiring for the cd player and red is switched power and yellow is continuous power. so by theory i have to connect yellow to red/white (from battery on mk2) and the red to the green/blue, the latter i have already done..

If you dont mind turnin the thing on and off rather than it doing it automatically with the key then just splice the permanent live and connect it to both.

When i baught my car that is how it was set up and i didnt have a switched source cable.
So to get mine to come on and off with the ignition, i ran a lead from the back of the cigarette lighter socket and connected that up to the switched input. I dont know if this will help, good luck anyway.

cheers mate although i have resolved the situation, it was an error on my behalf rather embarassing, had the yellow and red connectors on the radio mixed up, dont know how that happened but its all done now and fully working :)
