I have a 2002 mk2 punto active and I enjoy my music so i'd like to upgrade the audio in the car as it's distorted and not very loud. The problem is that I only intend to keep the car for a year, therefore any audio enhancements I install must be cheap or otherwise expensive as I want to be able to migrate them into a new car in 8 months or so once the 'R' plates are down.
I've the bog standard radio/casette at the moment, with a casette tape to 3.5mm jack. This means i can hook it up to my phone and have access to 40GB of music. It also means that my phone calls are routed through the car audio system and the phone also doubles as a sat nav so this setup is cheap and works quite well however sound quality is questionable due to the casette tape.
What's the easiest (and cheapest) way to improve the sound in the car - should i just replace the front speakers as these seem the most distorted at louder volumes?
Should i go all out and replace the HU (w/ 3.5mm jack), speakers, and sub...then transfer them into the new car?
