General MK2, It Smells Like Gas? lol

Hi, strange as it sounds my MK2 smells of gas fumes inside the car when left for a while, just started happening about 2 days ago and im scared to breath in these fumes.. or even try and start my car untill i open the windows and get rid of the smell lol, any ideas?

Just kidding mate...Maybe it's time to change your air filter??When did you last change it?I don't think that any kind of gas leak would lead to this result , as it'd create smell at the outside of the car..So , it could be the filter.dunna..

not sure if this is right but my parents have a nissan terranno and when towing the caravan we could smell gas and it would make a wining noise when accelerating and the rear axle had gone
if it is that i think its rather expensive ''/

I change my air filter once a year m8 and its just been done in April with its MOT.. I hope it aint a rear axle problem but aint hearing any noises at the moment. Im thinking it could be the exhaust thats leaking fumes into the car when its parked up, but i wouldint think it smell like gas though, i'll need to get it seen to on Monday i guess.

check the crankcase breather pipe. mine smelt gassy a few times, so played about with breather made sure it was connected and havent had it since.
