Thank you, and very true, i love the std look, but i was bored and wanted to look different, and the only kit you get here is the cheeta kit and that far from unique.

First one was done a few years ago, but with constand smashing on speed bumps, it just could not stay with its original shape.

I must say that I am NOT a fan of bodykits, and am in total agreement with Charlieboy about the one that is available in the UK. It is totally :yuck:

I don't think the side skirts suit the Uno on your car Ace, sorry. They're too rounded. The bumpers are 'different', but I think the hole is too big on the front one.

Also, not a fan of bad boy bonnets. They tend to be fitted to Chavved up cars over here, normally Novas and Saxos.

However, I like the blacking out of the door pillars! Suits the 5 door Uno very much so.

I don't think the Uno lends itself well to body kits. The standard Fiat turbo kit (arches, sills and bumpers) still look the best in my opinion. And if you can find some pictures of ChrisUnoman's old Uno, that is an excellent example of how good a standard Uno can look mildy lowered and on a set of nice alloys.

Still, it's all down to taste so well done for trying something different (y)

I agree that it depends on taste whether or not to fit any of these, but there are two important things to consider:
a) aerodynamics. I seriously doubt that any of accessories sold in tuning shops were ever tested in wind tunnel, less attached to Uno. I wonder what they do to CX and I am inclined to believe they increase turbulent airflow. Although aerodynamics may not be concern while driving at low speed, it becomes vital at speeds exceeding 80 km/h (some 50 miles) and even such small tning like open window will impair it considerably.
b) quality of DIY accessories design/manufacture. AFAIK the most common material used is glass fibre with epoxy. Surely it depends on how seriously one takes the work, but let me share a typical example of how incorrectly designed/bodgered front spoilers behave:
I was recently followed on freeway at some 110-120 km/h by, as you call it in UK, "chavved-up" car (VW Golf) with a complete set of DIYed accessories. The front spoiler, although soundly attached to the car, wiggled and vibrated and was deformed/formed back say, twice a second, by the airflow.

Although I may sound purist, IF I ever have enough time to install some of these, I will look for original Abarth accessories (or, if unavailable, for their exact copies) and be happy with them.

Not at all, i enjoy reading what other ppl think...gives you idea's on how to improve...more like constuctive critisism to me.

There are alot of things i would like to change on it. Like the side sills, but the the best i could find, trust me we are far behind on bodykits here in SA.
The holes i left like that cos its just so much work to make them smaller.

If i owned an Uno turbo i would never change a thing, well except mags and drop it. The standard kit looks so beautifull!

I'm a big fan of VWs and Euro style mods, Subtle mods are the way to go...Heres a perfect example of how to make an Uno look "cool" With simple mods like smoothing, delocking and lowering on dished wheels. This is the "Euro Look". No body kits here, This uno doesnt even have uno turbo bumpers, skirts or arches. But it still looks nice because its decked to the ground and so smooth all round. :D

correction, that silver uno does have some kind of side skirt and the front bumper is not entirly standard.
but it is the BEST uno i have ever seen!

ace you need to get some bigger wheels.

i deteste bodykits too, that is why i am making my car look subtle, like a turbo
but shhhhhh! no one round here knows theres no such thing as a 5dr turbo!
ive only seen 1 uno turbo in my life!

Actually, I really like the wheels on Ace's Uno! They're kind of retro, and suit it very well. Then again, I'm old fashioned and like the more old-school styling cues ;)

You should have come down to the Ace Cafe last October (or was it November?). No less than FIVE Uno turbos turned up!

I think abarth would be my thing aswell..
My previous uno (mk1) had an original abarth kit on it, just being wheel arches, sideskirts, and a rearwindow spoiler thingy.
It had it's original sx front and rear bumbers (the same as the turbo I think), and it had 14 inch abarth rims on it.

To me that was ace, but I understand people are different.. but one hting I can't under stand is why put so much kit on a car that has a 45 Bhp engine..??
Is that becouse of the insurance over there in the uk..??

Or is it just purely a style insterest, and setteling with it's orginal power output..
NOT that I say 45 Bph is rubbish, but I just don't see the point in investing that much time and cash, in a car that is out run by almost every car on the block..??

hhmm this thread reminds me I need to get my scanner working, I so want to post the only 2 pictures I have of my old mk1.

insurance is a massive issue for young drivers like myself i'm paying £1556!

and as for being outrun by almost every caron the block! well i've never been outrun by anything smaller than a 1.4 thanks

also i'll add from my point of view, i'm doing all my styling mods before i i consider the power aspect, this way i can keep my insurance low and get good economy at the same time, when i have finished all that then i can get the 1.4 UT lump and blamo its an Uno Turbo....

EDIT: Aceuno would you like to make me one of those bits on the front bumper for me its just what i've been looking for (y)

Don't and dind't mean to insult you lot.. really not..
Was just wondering, and I thought of the insurance my self yeah.
Over here the insurance is not based on the power output of the car, but by it's weight and the money it costs when it was new.
Shure the insurance is higher for the more obvious cars, like golf GTI and astra GSI and stuf like that.
But apart form that an 1.5 I.E. is almost the same as a 1.0 Fire version.

My last car was a '94 nissan sunny 1.6 16 valve and it cost me 480 Euro's in a year for just the basic insurance (no theft coverd with that).
480 Euro, is like 307 GBP
My curent '92 - 1.5 I.E. uno (a 75 version) will cost me something like 360 Euro a year, that is like 246 GBP.
And on the fuel consumption it don't differ that much from a 1.0 version.

So again, I didn't intent any insults, I just wonder, but I think that is based on the fact I don't like spoilers, and skirt, and angel eye bonnets that much.
Reminds me of GTI (vw) and GSI (vauxhalls) to much.. ;)

But I am going way off-topic here sorry..

He’s not insulted ;) – just a hot head at times :p. We all ignore Ryan when he goes off on one :D

i agree with bulldog. i only have a 1.0 FIRE but will be replacing it one day with a turbo example. by the time i can afford the insurance and work for that to be done, my car's styling will be sorted! lowered etc.
btw there is nothing wrong with the 45+bhp my car puts out. i beat a rover 800 off the lights last week. but i think that was because he couldnt drive his car properly.

and im sorry but those wheels do not suit the uno. a mini maybe but not an uno. im into the old school/retro look too! no bodykits for me! and i have lancia alloys on my car! no idea what car they came from.
i will post pics and ask you lot if u have any idea of their origin.

now im not into bodykits but that^ is super cool.
